i actually thought your points were useful and relevant.

opposed to others who came in and began arguing against your points with irrelevant emotive bull...

I'm all for the other side of the argument, obviously your reverse-troll was a bit out of line but that's only because you obviously don't see what you're dealing with with robbie LOL, you can't "win"... winning implies the opposing person REALISING they have lost... robbie is incapable of such intellectual realisations... :(

wow this thread got mad, hopefully on topic again.

I see some good facts on what Mad for Brad said, keeping it simple should be a rule and surely Deadmau5 represents more and it's more marketable than Joel Zimmerman.

I can possibly give another example of why this is true (and a bit stupid at the same time that the word order/quantity cares)

JES - Imagination (Kaskade Remix) i think this is an example of how you can get JES fans and non EDM listeners .

For me 80% of the work in this kind of tracks it's made by the producer, hence the recognition it's deserved, who has to have some talent + hard work while the vocalist it's 90% relying on his good voice but this is probably another discussion.

Edit. I have listened to "Rising Sun by A&F" today and the chorus of the breakdown changes it's key so i think this is not a sample but a synth anyone knows good "chorus synths" ?

Since when did knowing about the Holocaust make you awesome? Jesus christ i've been living under a rock..

I thought it was common knowledge. Robby seems to revel in his extremely conflated historical knowledge. I couldn't just ignore someone that was treating the persecution and murder of 6 million people so flippantly.

This title is

Stephen Wiley Ft. Kristine Grundmane - Not Over Yet (Mario and Eric J remix)

This is an example of really really bad marketing. First off , to the laymen , it is utterly confusing. Who is the song by ? You need to keep things simple if you want to reach a wide audience. Now Stephen is a really nice guy but not so great at business which would explain his little outcry about a month ago complaining about nobody buying tracks.

I mean lets just dissect the title above. Not only is the original artist not even mentioned which is an insult to say the least but he is putting his name before the artist which according to any marketing expert is nonsense as sex sells and focussing on the female will sell more records unless Stephen was a household name which he isn't.

Moving on
The name Kristine Grundmane , perhaps this is my opinion but it sounds rather unappealing to put it nicely. When I hear that name, I am thinking classical music, not EDM. There is no brand, just a bunch of ego preying producers trying to get credit while loosing sight of the actual goal which to sell a brand. I guarantee that if you worked continuously with this artist, got her an actual name that didn't suck and groomed her image creating some sense of a brand, you would sell alot more. You think it is a coincidence that producers don't put their names in the title for most pop albums ? Nobody cares. It is confusing to most. They just want to know who is singing the song. Deadmau5 to most is just an artist that makes songs. They don't think of him as as producer. He has a brand , a name that makes it accessible.

It is rather simple. Stop selling to djs. If you want to make money, make tracks that sure djs will play and buy but are accessible to normal people. Start selling yourself as an artist, not a producer.

I actually found this post very interesting. You raise a few points which are worthy of discussion.

In particular, the notion of not caring about getting credit and recognition for your work and instead, to create a brand that sells.

Tiesto's team have, over the years, proved how effective this strategy can be.

nicely put ;)

thanks

it is really common sense. Look at what other companies do in the mainstream. Replicate it. Take your cues from companies in industry that are extremely competitive and see what they do.

I've been told reliably that they make extensive use of Nexus (along with a large no. of other producers,) perhaps it has a choir type section with the pads
