Should I pick up these KRK monitors?

Currently have M-Audio AV40's in my small studio set up and I found this pair of KRK Rokit V6 speakers on craigslist for $300 used. Debating on whether or not to pick them up but I don't know much about the monitors. Anyone think this a good buy and can anyone that has them give me an idea on the quality.

The guy claims they are in great condition.

i dont think KRKs are very honest sounding, they have very nice sound to them fooling you to think your songs are good. they might be good for djeing but im not sure they are suited for producing really.

They're KRKs old higher end (not top end) model iirc and are pretty decent.

Condition is all important, make sure they're 100% working and not abused.

Friend of mine is saying to stick with the AV40's since I have a home studio. Apparently the KRK's would be too big for a bedroom studio.

I got them in April, new with 3 years insurance ($40.00) for $399.00

No disappointment at all, I was going for V8 but my room is to small for 8" speaker. I'm really happy from them, would buy again.

Cheers.

Almost everybody here has a 'bedroom' studio and uses similar sized speakers. Unless the room is tiny then they'll be fine, and even if it is tiny I'd imagine they'd server you better for mixing than the AV40s

Keep them away from walls and corners if possible.

I don't think it's BS.

There's something with KRK's that drives me crazy - there's this lack of clarity through the entire spectrum. Don't get me wrong, you *can* mix on them but IMO there's way better monitors on the market for less money.

If you have a small room go for the JBL LSR2325p's and if you have larger room go for Yamaha HS80's. If you have serious mula then go for focal twins and If you just won the lottery go for barefoots or the B&W 802's or PMC 25's etc.

I agree with you Rann. I've never been too fond of the KRK's myself. The VXT and Rokit range is just not where it's at. They're not bad given their price but there are better options these days for just about any budget model they have.

And yes, everybody is entitled to his/her own opinion regarding this subject :).

And I find the Adam A7s that everybody else seems to rave about appaling, I'm also not a fan of Genelecs either.

Monitors are all about personal preference and to slate an entire brand when so many people like them and mix well on them is harsh when they almost universally offer good value for money.

Not really.

You stated that KRK monitors are more suited to Djing than producing.

I still believe that's BS.

It wasn't meant to be a personal comment towards you, if it came across that way I apologise.
