Before mastering:

Deep Eddie Zilker - Majestic - 320 by DeepEddieZilker

Oh, the bitter taste of a wretched failure stains my ears.

Because I am typically hard on the noobs who push their harsh, repetitive, "uplifting" pap on the forum, I decided to put my money where my mouth is and try and make an "uplifting" tune, myself. Here is their karmic payback for so many harsh rebukes - that I have spent entirely way too long on something I am absolutely unhappy with.

Enjoy the utter cheesy gayness. Please let me know what you think. There is no rebuke too harsh for it.

just my humble opinion: I enjoyed the tune, I like the breakbeat drums, I feel it very relaxing!, maybe a would like to hear a litle more variations.

ah also great sound quality man.

really enjoyed the pad textures, im so frustrated at the moment because the riff reminds me of a really old track and i cant play my finger on it.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the kudos. I mixed it to unity with little mastering other than a limiter to block some very occasional peaks. There's a hook in there that reminds me of something I couldn't put my finger on, either. If you remember, let me know.

Utter cheesy gayness you say, someone hold me back! Can't wait to take a listen to this once I get home, am loving the breaktrance lately. I suppose you've probably heard Abdomen Burst's work? I've only just discovered him over the past couple months and I'm blown away, I'm feeling mighty inspired to try my own hand at it. The broken beats underneath really bring pretty melodic elements to a whole new level..

edit: yeah wow this IS repetitive haha. I didn't mind it actually, buildup is nice altho 4:49 is waaaay too long to build esp when there's not much progression going on. Some nice melodies happening in the breakdown, it hits some chords I love and some I don't love, overall was a bit random and tough to follow. I like the twangy guitar-like pad.

I think the hook reminds me of one of Owens tracks, which is a rather large compliment! The chords remind me of the Shamen for some reason.

I love the feel of the track and the chords you've chosen and the sounds that deliver them are spot on. It's a really chilled vibe but works with the upbeat drums.

I think some of the sounds in the top end could use a bit more separation and the snare gets lost in the mix a bit sometimes but the overall effect works really well.

Oh, oh oh!!!!! The lead also reminds me of the Chinese theme in C&C Generals ;)

In fact some trombone swells would work really well in this mix too!

Great work, like eeet a lot!

Drums sound quite messy/muddy compared to the rest of the track - they really do lack a lot of punch and drive.

I'd say the tune itself is a lot less cheesy than you give it credit for - the bass is quite interesting and the synths aren't too overblown either (although they ARE utterly repetitive). I'd say you could actually have a pretty good track here with some reworking.

Oh, and the title... really now?

Nice Eddie - this is what I like to listen when I'm overstress.
With some tweaking to your drums, it could be really strong material for release my friend.

Great work,

Cheers.

Totally not what I was expecting what I got, in the way of feedback. Kind of inspired me to go and work out a mastered mix of this song, tonight. Unfortunately, I am really, really burnt out on this track so any rework is going to be done after I haven't heard it, for quite a while. When I do revise it, I'll likely shorten it and change out some of the repetition. A better producer would have been able to augment himself out of the corner I boxed myself into with the Chinese flute melody.

Anyway, let me know, if you care to hear the mastered version, what you think of that. It's basically just me dicking around with some of the mastering plug-ins included with SONAR. And thanks, again, for the critiques.

I had to maximize the pretension. Normally, I have a working title which is something I'll wind up changing if the song calls for it. With this, I really was going for the "uplifting" factor.

Pretty cool.

Although I didn't enjoy it that much, it was kinda cool just to put in the background and go do stuff while it was playing. Really nice atmosphere :)

Thanks, man. I totally get what you're saying - kind of an interesting reaction but completely understandable.
