I'd say the tune itself is a lot less cheesy than you give it credit for - the bass is quite interesting and the synths aren't too overblown either (although they ARE utterly repetitive). I'd say you could actually have a pretty good track here with some reworking.

Oh, and the title... really now?

I have to agree with this. It's definitely not as cheesy as you hinted to in your original post. You haven't gone for the obvious chords and ridiculous synths.

I do think the drums should be more prominent in a breaks track though and I think the song is just too long. With some changes I think you're onto a good one:)

I guess this is just my opinion Eddie but, I love this new version - is brilliant man (as I said before "Dancing Fantasy") just great track.
Left some comments on SC.

Cheers.

You and Mr. Mystery may have given me one of the best compliments I've had, in a while. A few years ago, I couldn't get away from 'cheesy'. I'd put out a song which I thought was masterpiece material, sure to be timeless against the fads that come and go and was immediately crushed when someone told me it indicated delusions of granduer. ;)

As always, thanks for the kind words. I'm certainly not dismissive of them. This song is one that I've had the hardest time with, in a long time and I think that tends to color my perception of it. It had me diving into a few new techniques, such as listening on other sound-sources like my HDTV, to try and refine the mix that I hadn't with other songs, and also coping with some technical issues I was having with my new system. Both of these revealed some weaknesses in my process which I'll be devoting some attention to, rolling forward.

Regardless, I'm glad you like it.

I don't think this is cheesy at all mate. I really like it, its got a great vibe, cool melody, love some of the synth sounds.

On the negative, I do think the mix needs some work. The bass and drums sound like they need cleaning up, the hats more definition and the kick needs to cut through a bit more.

Asides from that, no complaints, a really enjoyable tune. Good work!

On the contrary, I don't find it cheesy, either. Sorry for echoing the others, but it's true.

Great bass work and synths. I really like the melodic side as well. This would certainly work well in a video game.

Indeed, it is repetitive, but this time it doesn't bother me. I didn't mind hearing the same elements all the way through.

I'll be grabing this one for sure!

What a classy tune, great melody, it keeps me goin till the end. Your good at breaks. i can't make a break tune myself hehe

Yeah, I like this one too. The melody and groove are quite infectious - I like the way the bass and drums lock into a really tight groove. I also like that weird little vocal-ish effect. The track is great for background listening. I have to admit, though, that it is too long and repetitive for my tastes - I have a shorter attention span than my 3yo has, but it wouldn't be a classic EZ track if it was under 9 minutes, now, would it? :p
Beatflux
I like the premastered version more. It's more open, and sounds a bit cleaner.

After listening for a little bit longer:

There's this autopanned sound at around 4 minutes that doesn't really fit the ambiance. The song kind of drags on for a while.

Thanks, guys. I'm happy you all like what you like about the tune and I appreciate the critiques, too.

@ cryo: ;) No, it wouldn't. :disbelief

It's almost an accidental trademark though and I do make exceptions :D

Good tune Eddie, really lovin it and Downloadin it:D

My only complaint will be that its too long, these kind of tracks needs to keep the listener with a taste of more in my opinion.

Thanks, man. Totally picked up my mood, yesterday, to see the one download after my Soundcloud counter reset for the beginning of the week. :D (yeah, I know - silly, but still)

Are you talking about building more to a play on a sense of mystery with that statement or is it just to infer that once the song peaked, it should have ended or brought on something bigger?

Hmmmm...its hard for me to explain, i definitely love the concept and starcture of the track, i just feel like some parts are too long.

I'm sure you had the chance to hear a good track once in a movie\video game OST album where you were saying "wtf?! why did it end so fast?! this is too soon...i want to hear that again!"

I think that you can cut about 2.5+ minutes from the track to make it less tiring on the mind.

Those clicks in the beginning are kinda in the way for me to enjoy the track a bit more...maybe they are too raw i don't know (reminds me a bit of that PCF filter in Rebirth - that would be great on those clicks :stongue: ).

Again, great track.
Hope i wasn't too harsh.
