Restaurant Spill

So I work at a restaurant as a 2nd job for some extra cash & we use big coffee hoddles with an empty cup served as coffee for our customers and apparently the guy comes in with his family sits next to his baby. He wants coffee... I bring the coffee- sit the big coffee hoddle in front of the man who orders the coffee hoddle & I walk away... half a min later I hear screaming. I turn around & the baby is purring coffee all over himself with this huge coffee hoddle. So the whole family is screaming they calm everyone down. The mom & the man go's into the bathroom.. cleans the baby. After about 7 min they all sit back down to eat as if nothing has happened. They cash out & they start telling the manager how it was my fault that the baby picked up the hoddle & spilled coffee all over himself & that I never should have placed the hoddle infront of the man but at the other end of the table.

I do have to say that it was a poor decision on your part to put the coffee pot near the baby. No, you cannot control what that baby or the family is going to do, but a little critical thinking might have made you think "I probably should put this somewhere safe - away from a small, unpredictable infant."
However, the parents should have thought the same thing and asked you immediately to put the pot in a different spot. But then, they do sound quite retarded, and most likely would have found a way to blame you regardless. |
