A side is pretty meh, but still better than 90% of trance being produced at the moment.
The B side is a ing stormer though, I love it. It has a full-on, goa-style lead and yet is completely accessible for the masses without being cheesy. I also like this minimal approach he's been going for with more recent tracks. In the past, my main criticism of Fleming and Smith (The Digital Blonde) has been their lacklustre mixing and mastering, but the slew of tracks released since Heaven & Hell haven't suffered from this.

I prefer New Beginning, highly innovative take of Trance, love the groove and progression.
Temple of Spice is a nice effort as well, but could easily be exchanged as another 00.db production, not that this is necessarily bad, but between the two I think New Beginning stands out more as something more unique and experimental.

Maybe experimental is an exaggeration, but I like how the track remains edgy, gritty and groovy despite a fairly soft bassline and a not so fast tempo. Progressive Trance does not necessarily have to be fluffy slow melodic music, you can delivery deep, dark, energetic Trance even without the need of a pounding kick, a thunderous bassline and a fast tempo.
This track paired with Samarkande - Samba, a similar track in conception, worked really well in the Essential Mix at the beginning of the year.

Fair enough. I'm glad you withdrew the word "experimental", because it's nothing of the sort. Of course, everyone's taste is different, but I find nothing edgy about this track. For me, it ties a fairly bland bass/percussive combo and adds a few swirling pads over the top. There's no evolving, narrative-style melody as with Temple of Spice.

I do not think a narrative-style melody would have fit with the track concept. This is not a track that wants to necessarily stand out in a set, but is actually excellent to keep or increase the energy in the early-mid stage of a Trance set.
Unfortunately the large majority of Trance producers out there has stopped releasing non-peak moments tracks and this is why there are plenty of Djs out there that don't even know how to program a Trance set that is longer than one hour.

I also agree that the track is innovative, because I can't think of anything similar to it off the top of my head.
