Hmmm, why are so many of you DJs still using Cds anyways?
I was under the impression that everyone just loads up their laptop into the sound system which would of course have your entire music library... that's what a few people I know do, but I guess I don't know that many DJs. I just thought CDs went out a few years ago... |

To be honest, I notice I play much better when I have a condensed set of songs I can play around with. With Ableton, I got too caught up in running around my library looking for "that" track.

That's what playlists in Traktor are for. :p
You can even build your playlists in iTunes and then use them in Traktor. I do this because it's easier to build the playlists in iTunes and you can use the smart playlist options. I use smart playlists to sort out the tracks I just bought, or to separate them by mood, etc. Traktor is very very versatile in that aspect. |

That was not the question at all. Why would DJs still be buying blank discs and taking the time to burn them all to Cds they want, and like someone said, after a few months they are only playing 1 or 2 of the tracks off each cd. Seems rather cumbersome doesn't it, when you could just be using a laptop to hold everything... So why not? |

Eh, it just doesn't seem fun, sorry. Looking at a computer screen for my tracks while mixing seems like the pits and the temptation to hit the sync button would be there.

| Yeah, I really just like manually doing it. I've played around with Traktor a bit, and that just really wasn't my thing. Ableton as well. For straight mixing, CDs and vinyl just win me over. |

Yup, I do the same. Smart playlists are an absolute godsend. |

| Agreed on the Traktor playlists. I will often keep my most recently purchased tunes, or "tunes I know I will probably play tonight", in a particular playlist... but I still have all of my tunage there if the mood strikes. |
