How many tunes do you keep in your "active" rotation

For those who use CD's, how many tunes made up your active pool of tunes that you take with you and how often do you rotate new ones in and out?

I feel like it should not be too big where you can't remember most of the tracks.

Tool - Lateralus
Prodigy - Music for the Jilted Generation
GZA - Liquid Swords
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
Daft Punk - Musique

This is why playing with CDs sucks. Why limit yourself to carrying a fixed amount of tunes when you can carry your entire library with you by using a DVS? :p

Right but whats the point of carrying hundreds of tunes with you when you can only play around 12 per hour anyway? Seems like it wouldn't be anymore helpful(maybe even more confusing) having every single tune you own with you.

Even if I used serato or traktor I'd probably still seperate my 'active' tunes from the rest.

when i first crossed to cd's a few years ago i honestly found it quite a pain to work out a system. you burn a cd with 10 tunes on it - then 5 months later you only still would PLay 1 or 2 - what ya gotta do? burn another cd with those 1 or 2 or have 90% useless cds floating in your wallet!

because of this i usually wait 1 or 2 weeks after buying and have quite a few good listens to the tunes before burning them

What i have got going at the moment is okay - but im just biding time until the 2000's become club standard or get a new ableton controller - whichever comes first.

at the moment:-
10 cd's (doubled) with 8 or so tunes so all up 80 newish tunes
and
3-4 cd's with big/personal fave tunes that are older than 3 months or so.

but yes cd's can be quite the pain in the ass to organise

i have a huge-ass case. 300 cds maybe 500? i dunno. it's a lot.
still have yet to fill it completely

i used to rearrange it every time i burned a new batch, but now i slide em in the end and usually play those, although i'll frequently go further back in the case if i'm looking for an older track

i take all my cd's with me but they are organized by date..so i just stick to the back of my case for the new tracks...but can flip to the front for older ones

I'd say 500 tracks is more then enough for a cd wallet, but it all depends on the party.

I'm currently in the process of re-burning all my tracks to make everything more organized. I'm gonna put less songs on each cd, and have them categorized by genre, and gonna lightscribe the track names and BPM on each. It's gonna be a long process but it'll be worth it.

enough to fit on my ipod, i need to do an library rotation soon anyway...the tunes are beginning to get rather samey.

i organize my tracks into playlists/crates on Traktor.
