Kinda mainstream, dont ya think? Hate to say it, but I am getting sick of hearing these songs....

+1... Week after week after week.. Not many of the big DJs besides Markus Schulz or Sander Van Doorn like to throw any curveballs in their sets... I'm beginning to not enjoy going out as much, unless it's a BlkMarket or Resolute warehouse party... I don't even like minimal techno, but the element of surprise and not knowing the songs make these parties immediately better than trance parties right off the bat, it's a shame.

I don't know if I'm the only cynical one that's sick of the same songs over and over, or has the overall crowd just changed due to trance becoming more popular? I roll my eyes when I hear some of these songs, my body doesn't even have an urge to dance sometimes, while everyone around me is going crazy; it's like a complete psychological lack of excitement.. Am I just out of touch?

it all depends. for me, when i go see an artist play (whether it be a DJ or a band) i want to hear some stuff i know. that's the reason why i'm paying money to see them perform. if i buy tickets to a red hot chili peppers concert and they don't play any RHCP songs, i'd be pretty upset. so if i go see a ferry show, id like to hear some ferry songs.

i know it's a bit different for DJs since they can just hit play on a cd as opposed to a band who has a different setup (not saying that DJing is just hitting buttons, but that they have the ability/power to play any music using technology), but even then, it's the same idea in my opinion. the reason people go out to see artists is because they like the music the play, generally.

DJs have to spin for a bit more than bands play, so yeah, a variety is good. but i never understood why people hate when deadmau5 or tiesto play their own music for half the set in their own promo tours. they are on tour to promote their new albums and get their music out there, and i see people give them for playing half their cd. it's part of the business..

anyway, that's my rant.

I agree man, I think it has to do with the crowd. I mean, A lot of the people I meet when I go out only come out because they heard DJ XXX was playing, and they liked a few of his songs from like 2 years ago. So all they know are the big name, main stream tracks that every dj has played for the past 6-12 months. Not everyone who attends the shows listen to their radio shows and podcasts like most of us do. And I think the DJ's have an understanding of this and play to the crowds.

I was pretty dissapointed in Ferry's set at EZ last year; It was like a Ferry's Greatest Hits set. I heard his after party set was dope, but he came out at EZ and played all his own tracks with nothing new in there. Dissapointing IMO. That's why Markus Schulz is my fav dj of the past year or two, every set is unique, there is some overlap with tracks but that is to be expected
Uncle ED
saw him in vegas at Rain/Perfecto last week when Sean played.
I have never, ever seen such an uninterested DJ, in fact he was so bored he would have the track playing and rest on the side of the stage..lol...However, he was very nice to me and we actually spoke in the hallway when his set was done, so at least I can say he was nice.

iam the same way, trance sets for the most part are very predictable
i mean theres just alot more exposure between every dj haveing a radio show and dj's just whoreing out their own productions and the same old songs

there are very few trance dj's that do it for me these days, times have changed i guess but yea thats why iam goin back to listenin to house mostly as well as techno cause its always something new and fresh and the crowd/vibe is different

there are soooooo many good trance tracks out there this year but again its just not getting exposure from alot of dj's

I will be there tonight for Oakie and can't wait. I love his perfecto mixes. So many people think he sold out since the swordfish albums but his live sets are still amazing. I remember when he used to play every year in Philly on thanksgiving eve. Although...the last time i seen him was about 4 years ago at Nation, DC. So I'm very excited to see what tonight will bring.
