| Cant say i enjoyed this cd, i like his older trancey tracks but since he started to make progressive his music does nothing to me. It just sounds flat imo.. |

No wonder I didn't know this was out then. I'm not buying digital. |

But somehow he still falls in the same soulless uplifting overly melodic trap. I miss the edgy sound he had in his earliest productions. Now it all sounds too flat too smooth. |
Have you actually listened to the samples? None of these tracks are uplifting or overly melodic. And I don't get these complaints of "hollow" and "soulless" either because it's not like the tracks are uber-polished unicorn fare glossed out on reverb and atmospherics. |

I find it a bit funny he's complaining how it's too trancey and in the very next reply someone says it's not trancey enough. Makes me wonder if they're even listening to the same album. |

I haven't listened to this album. I was refering to his previous releases. And it doesn't have to be über supersawish to sound hollow. |

Is that the official definition for "hollow" music?
I found these rather hollow even though they're certainly not "uber-polished unicorn fare glossed out on reverb and atmospherics", which IMO a track does not have to be to be hollow. I find a lot of music hollow, be it trance, tech house, techno, prog house, pop, rock, whatever… |

Apparently some of them aren't listening to it at all before dropping the complaints.

There is no official definition of "hollow" as a pejorative. It's one of those bull intangible complaints that people can level against any music for any reason. It could mean the production, the ideas, the equally ineffable "soul" of the music, which is why I conflated it with "soulless", another bull complaint. |

Well, I'm sorry for trying to use words to describe how I feel about these tracks. It can be hard, you know?
With hollow I meant that these tracks seem to lack proper ideas to make them interesting to me. It's just music without any real substance, kinda. I'm just trying to say they miss something on the inside IMO, while there's really nothing wrong with the surface.
I didn't intent on describing how the tracks sound like to anyone else. I'm not trying to describe the music, I'm trying to describe how I felt about the music. There's a difference there.
And I don't have an idea what they should contain for me to not consider them hollow as I'm no artist, but if I feel that they are hollow I will say so because IMO it best describes how I feel about these tracks. |
