Have you people never heard of inflation???
, 6 years ago we were paying 80 cents for gas...
That being said, I was a little shocked at the price tonight as well.... |

I am from Vancouver and just moved to Toronto. In Vancouver to see a "big wig" is minimum $75. I paid $135 to see deadmau5 on the final day of the olympics. $100 for Tiesto is normal. I find the prices in Toronto to be wayyyyy cheaper but they are also much bigger venues...
On another note. Deadmau5 only played for 80 or so minutes and his performance was dismal at best. |

i saw him last year at dragonfly just as a joke and just wanted to hit up a mid weed party. his set was horrible and mostly based on videogame remixes. the mouse head is annoying the 3rd-whenever he stops doing it. his music is mainstream but thats okay because we need the out there in the world.
anyway did she really wear that thing the whole night? lmao she probably got tired of it the first hour. |

are you referring to my mau5 head? I checked it till 1:15 then guarded it with my life beside the stage. I wore it for about 1/2 the time he was playing. freaking hot |

A lot of the clubs are around $20 in Van to see most of the headliner DJ's, although sure Tiesto and Deadmau5 (during the Olympics) would have been more. At Red Room or Gorg-O-Mish you're not paying much more than that and they have some pretty big guys come in to play.
But what you don't get in Van is a party like the all access events at Guv, where you have MULTIPLE headliner DJ's all in one night in several rooms. I think that's where people have to consider what they're paying for... |

Red room was $80 to see paul oakenfield. They have $15-$20 cover on reg nights with resident djs but their prices go up. For any of the "mainstream" djs(bennassi, tiesto, armin, etc) you are looking upwards of $75 min... unless I am getting my tickets from the wrong people lol.
I wish Van had all access events. Even the raves(dooms day) arent very good and still quite expensive. |

Wasn't Oakenfold during the Olympics too though? I know Red Room brings in acts like Krafty Kuts, Gareth Emery and Lazy Rich for around $20-$25 on a regular basis and Gorg-O-Mish has Nic Fanciulli, Dash Berin, Funkagenda, Alex Kenji for the same (these are all recent dates).
Im buddies with the crew over there and also play both clubs (Gorg resident) so that;s why I'm mentioning it. The point being that Van has similar prices for shows as T.O. does for the same talent. But at Guv, it's just the pure number of acts in one night under the same roof. Which is something Van doesn't do as you said already said. We're definitely lucky in Toronto though for the number and frequency of artists that come to play.
Although your right, your not going to see Tiesto for $20 there.....or probably anywhere for that fact. |

| and 90min is the reason why Joel will continue to not be respected amongst dj's in the edm scene. if all he plays is his own stuff night after night, he'll continue to just be a good producer who has no creativity when it comes to playing live. i think we'd all get pretty good if all we played were the same tracks night after night. |
