I’ve been listening to his Grandmixes a lot lately and was wondering what you guys thought of his mixes. Some of the transactions are amazing and I’ve found a lot of 1 hit wonders I’d otherwise never of heard of.
A few of the songs in his mixes that caught my attention

Personally I was never all that fond of his grandmixes, as they always contained too much awful music for them to be particularly palatable. He still is one of the first people to introduce the idea of beatmixing to a larger audience, however, and the whole concept of a megamix owes a lot of its popularity to him in Europe.
making a 1 hour track it's mostly to beat a guiness world record because has few practical uses, never listened to it i think maybe it's time to listen to that infamous track.

Actually, making one continuous piece of music that goes through several movements is quite common. It's just not common to do it within trance, because everyone's busy adhering to the dancefloor formula.

well classical music was this and i've seeen some rock bands making long instrumental tracks but in edm as you said all is meant to be played in a club or radio.

Well, maybe something to add...
I listened a lot of Ben's work recently and this weekend he was in Holland for the ADE, also at a television late night show together with Armin van Buuren, DJ Chuckie, Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano. Although modest Ben unfortunately only was in the audience it was really nice to see and hear the master.
He also went to see Krafwerk in probably the best building for it, the Ufo shaped Evoluon in Eindhoven. A legend watching legends...
Two weeks ago I uploaded this one (Youtube failed.., Vimeo didn't), which he played again this weekend at his radioshow: http://www.liebrand.com/itm/
I never was a big fan of Born Slippy, but this minimix with Godd I really like.
