Holy WOW!!!
Such a good time last night. Guv was off the hook....
Mark welcomed me in with great opening music but he always does so no surprise there. Mark is always Mark...
Congorock was playing to a full house for the opening set and who said you had to play chill for your headliner???
He had the Guv in old school rave mode and was playing the most amazing hard house/techno tunage...
I'd never heard of him before last night but he's instantly up near the top of my favorites list...
Benassi was decent but I would've been much happier if Congo stayed on...
JFK was on fire as well. The main room was getting it's beats and that's the way it needs to be!!!

I don't dance anymore. I've been around too long and it's just not something I do and certainly not sober...
But last night, this chick had me bouncing around like a 20 year old for 45 mins only stopping to Chinamon texting me for nitro...
She is gorgeous, fun, and can throw down a set like no other girl I've ever seen. She had me back in time at the Zone on a perfect Zone day...
The Mouse... KH was INSANE with people... Hot and rammed...
But the music in the rest of the club was so much better so I only went in for a few minutes to check out his set-up. I'm not a fan of his but I will say that the dude knows how to put on a show...
That cube that he was perched in was one of the coolest looking things I'd ever seen. And I'll admit that his new head, as gimmicky as that head is, was looking pretty amazing itself...
The flowing LED's on his head and the cube was AWESOME to look at.

I left just before 4 and I had an amazing time...
Until my buddy puked all down the side of my car on the highway...

i thought the exact opposite. he played so much electro crap that i felt like i was at a club hosted by z103. benny was much better imo.
nobody said you HAVE to play chill for the headliner but you it makes sense not to. if the opener plays ripping hard tracks when he knows the headliner does not, you can blame the opener for ruining the "vibe" or "energy" when the headliner does go on. congorock was not there as a headliner so he should not play like one. when he is booked as a headliner then he gets the spotlight. |

completely agree...an opener by no means is supposed to start the night off with straight banging tracks. the job of the opener is to set the mood and the vibe inside the club and get the people warmed up for the headliner to take it to the next level. an opening dj should not start ripping it hard until the last 30 min of his set to highten the aniticipation for the upcoming headliner about to come on. |

that only works to a certain extent. when a dj plays as hard as congorock did (knowing he was opening for benny) then he shouldn't have played that hard if he was gonna bring it down a bit towards the end of his set. at the rate he was play he would have to slam on the brakes. |

I agree a opener should not try and over shadow the headliner, but they shouldnt book dj's that can over shadow the headliner and tell them to play at 60% when there capable of much more.....
what they should do is have these dj's play in other rooms after they open for a headliner, where they can play hard and not hold back because of the headliner.... |

djs can be book as either a headliner or opener. the promoters can have them play as either one. a good dj will know how to play properly if they are booked as an opener. |

So I went, my first event like that at Guv/ kool haus.
earlier this year i went to bal en blanc and resolution, I guess I had high hopes expecting at least some of that vibe?
Koolhaus was completely rammed nowhere to stand or move, couldnt really roll was getting pushed around by sketchbags
wtf is up with all the 50 year old sketchy asians???
Way to packed to really be fun, ill pass on guv in the future. |
