i'm waiting for a decent pio cd deck for ~500 bucks that has the same platter cue system as an 800 or 1000 and .02 pitch. it'll never happen, but... a man can dream i suppose.

About 3-4 years too late, unfortunately. I got my 800 mk2's new in 2006 for 569 each on AGIProDJ. They've gone UP in price every year since then. Crazy.

I got my 1000mk3s for £625 each. From an authorised reseller in 2006.

Deal of the decade I say.

I'm disliking CDJs more and more as time goes by.

I don't get this. Pioneer just seem to be flooding the market with well made but poorly conceived ideas. It's seems every so often they get it right (800's, 1000's) but then they jack the prices up, discontinue them and bring out a "superior" model which costs more for a tiny bit of extra functionality.

I paid $500 for my CDJ800 mk2, £80 for my CDJ 100 (still going strong after 8 years).

So I go in to my local GC and look at the 900. It's nearly $1400. I ask how much for the 850 and it turns out to be $900.

How the has adding usb functionality and a slightly different screen to a CDJ800 added the best part of $500 (what I paid for my 800mk2 new) to the price for the CDJ850?

I don't think I know of any other companies that with their consumer base so much by altering their products and price points. I'm beginning to think they are just trying to make people get used to upgrading their DJ equipment every year.

Well, that. my 1200 mk5g's will be staying put for another 10 years and the only thing I might buy is another 800 mk2 or a 1000 mk3 if some numptys decide to flood ebay with "outdated" equipment so they can have the latest pioneer marketing trick.

Don't get me wrong, I like their products when they get it right but me, they really do like to with their customers.
