(Who should I send this to?) Game-/film music showcase

The music hasn't actually been used in a game or movie yet, but I'm giving this name to the topic because of the variety of genres covered. I would also greatly appreciate suggestions about whom I could send these to.

1: General (game/film-) music showcase

Collection of finished and unfinished tunes I have made; most of them from the past 2-3 years. I think there should be something for most tastes here :)

2: Synthesis skill showcase

In the beginning of the year, I thought it would be kinda cool to synthesis everything, including percussion, from scratch (Sylenth1 + Ableton audio effects). I was right.

14 clips, 100% synthesized from scratch (Sylenth1+Ableton audio effects) by Fjern

I hope you like!

haha this was verry cool music, and well made! Have you ever thought about sending this to video game company's?
Rognalf
I wouldn't know who to send it to really. Suggestions?
Anakratis
reminds me of Final Fantasy in a way :D

I've actually never played Final Fantasy, but I've heard people speak very highly of its music, so thank you very much, Michael!

I order you to go listen. In return, I'll finally check out Astropilot's latest album.

Anyway, I think you know how much I love this. I put lots of your music on my mp3 before going on holiday and it served great during many different situations.

I'd also like to add that me and Kristian have some serious musique forthcoming :p

- I'll do an extensive final fantasy ost search tomorrow after work!

- That's really cool to hear. It's insane to imagine someone else listening to my stuff like that. I've enjoyed the heck out of quite a lot of your music on train rides by the way :)

- Yes, we most certainly do!

1. Sending music to game/film companies

Okay, so I've been wondering about spreading this stuff a little, maybe contacting someone who might be interested in what I do.

Any ideas on who I could send it to? I'm really not knowledgeable about what game/movie companies are out there, that would use my music.

2. Applying for masters in music production/sound design?

I'm almost done with my bachelor's degree in Media Technology (final year now). I enjoy making music in my spare time, there's no question about that. I am however really unsure whether I should do a masters or not.

This course for example looks like something I would definitely enjoy: http://www.acoustics.salford.ac.uk/...?content=msc_ap - But then comes the concern about employment within music/sound, and if that's something I'd want to do. Does anyone have any experiences with such education or jobs, to enlighten me a little?

Any other advice would also be very much appreciated. I apologise for the topic-bump!

Some cool stuff for sure.

Grand scenery was nice and floaty and I liked what you have done with the windows sounds.
Can't complain but no expert on video games.

Cheers

Hey Kristian this may not be an answer to your question but at last a direction you can go by - pick up your best games (will talk to Anakratis about it for you) and check the company names and contact info which you will have to send your demo to (Anakratis was contacted already by one game company so he could give you an idea where to start).

This will be the hardest first step on your path to promoting your production, after that will be much easier.

Cheers.

Clip 1 - Definitely sounds like a Final Fantasy-type song. IF not, then some other Japanese ecstasy theme

Clip 2 - Some battle scene. Sounds like it would fit in 'Devil May Cry' or maybe a 1v1 racing battle.

Clip 3 - LittleBigPlanet for sure! Reminds me of one of the construction levels. Maybe you can still get this one into LittleBigPlanet 2? Maybe as future downloadable content? Try contacting 'Media Molecule' on this one for sure.

Clip 4 - Revamped version of Megaman! Haha, or one of the newer Pokemon games for Nintendo DS.

Clip 5 - Reminds me of Call of Duty World at War zombies. It has a nice scary/eerie feel to it. Add a little reverb and it would be perfect for a scary scene. Also resembles the zombie mode in the new Call of Duty coming out this November. Check out

GKNOVA6

Clip 6 - Sounds really good for some calm level like high up in the clouds or something. Would fit well with an adventure game. Kind of reminds me of the old 'Ape Escape' for the original PlayStation.

Clip 7 - Once again, as clip 6, except something a little more intense.

Clip 8 - I'm still torn, but I seem to keep coming back to 'LittleBigPlanet' once again.

Clip 9 - :D

Clip 10 - This one would fit in one of the new Sonic the Hedgehog games. Kind of similar to one of the songs in the game actually.

Clip 11 - Very unique sounds. I still have no idea. Maybe a fight scene? I have no clue. Seems to be wreaking havoc on my mind right now.

Clip 12 - If you remove the SID chip sound then it would really go well with a platformer-type game. May I say 'LittleBigPlanet' again?

Clip 13 - Oh my! 'Mirror's Edge' chase scene! This is a beautiful song for a chase scene. Whatever game it is, as long as it's an intense chase scene, I would lose the mission every time, because I would be listening to the music more than playing the game itself ;)

Clip 14 - Sounds like 'Ratchet & Clank'! I keep imagining one the night levels every time I hear this.

You've got some great potential here! Overall, I would say most of your tracks would fit best with platformers such as 'LittleBigPlanet', 'Jak and Daxter', 'Ratchet & Clank', maybe some 'Uncharted' + many others. I can definitely see myself playing future games with these tracks in there :)

Oh, and if I were you, I would seriously think about contacting Media Molecule! Some of these tracks were made for the game (or vice-verse hehe)!
