This was a nice set, great blend of old and new. Reminds me to break out that Walter Jones track again, been meaning to do that :D

Can you tell us a little about this idea behind the mix?

I just wanted to make a fun summer mix, and something much different than I have done in the past. I used a lot of my favorite old post-punk/disco/electro tracks, many of which I would not be able to license for a DJ mix. It was really, really fun to put together.

Yeah, it should have been real hard to figure out what you were going to be listening to.

Listened to it yesterday morning, liked it.

That photo is beyond stupid. What the were they thinking?
nefardec
what are you guys talking about?

this mix definitely has detroit influences and sounds in it

Cybotron (detroit artist)
Jimmy Edgar (detroit artist)
YMO (massive influence for detroit artists)
Frustrated Funk (detroit inspired label)
Chaka Khan (influence for detroit artists)
Fun Boy Three (again detroitish post punk, maybe more chicago tho)

flipped through this - classic magda - basically a collection of delicate weird sounds with dance beats.

i've never been a fan though. it's funkless to me. white glove and silver platter funk

drawing from the name of one of the artists in this mix, i would classify her mixes as 'fad gadget'.

i might even go so far to say that her expressed attitude towards artists like chaka khan and detroit techno is not too much different from that cover photo.

ok that wasnt linked to anywhere, only the download link so i wasnt to know shed put in all these 80 stuff. guess thats her style now then. liked her better 3 years ago. more bombastic then.
bas
It's not really her style at all. Like she says in the interview, "I just wanted to make a fun summer mix, and something much different than I have done in the past. I used a lot of my favorite old post-punk/disco/electro tracks, many of which I would not be able to license for a DJ mix. It was really, really fun to put together."

Do you just not like to read? :p
