The primary risk factors for esophageal cancer are smoking and drinking alcohol..and Hitch has been doing both for years. This is sad but shouldn't be much of a surprise.

No, I don't think he is hated because he has never been as "abrasive" as Hitchens. He wrote an awesome little editorial from his hospital bed though - Thank Goodness

Yeah, I thought so. As an atheist, however, I really really really dislike Hitchen's rhetoric - though he's got the occasional good argument, the guy sees as many shades of grey in a debate as a 3-year-old autistic child raised by a soon to be suicide bomber.

If only reality were so simple...

Hitchens is much better at rhetorical flair than actual argument. The guy can certainly write.
