Most of those will be over $250 for two people, especially if you wanted to add some drinks or a bottle of wine.

"Madeline's" and "Lee" are both great places to eat that are pretty affordable, both at King/Bathurst and run by Susur Lee. They both focus on smaller more affordable plates, which is great becasue you can sample numerous dishes (and you'll want too!). Definitely not as high end as "Susur" was before, but he purposely close that one to open "Madeline's" because of the economy. Both are still excellent.

Oh, I didn't see that he wanted something under $250. Some of the restaurants mentioned have tasting menus - which I'm a big fan of b/c you get to try more things.
Ian took me to 360 recently and we got the 4 course tasting menu with a bottle of wine. I thought the portions would be smaller on the tasting menus, but they weren't. We were so full by dessert we could barely finish our meals.

If Scaramouche never closed down yet, I strongly suggest.

Some good suggestions so far. I will add the following.

Ruby Watchco (Leslieville)

Enoteca Sociale (Dundas West)

Weezies (King East)
No website but here are reviews

Tomi Kro (Queen East)
No website too

and if you want an great time, experience, and a lot of fun try either
Pizzeria Libbretto (they don't take reservations...put name in, go drink on Ossington and they call you) - Best Pizza
http://pizzerialibretto.com/

If you like to try new, weird, things that will push you
The Black Hoof (again no reservations, put your name in and they will call you). This was probably the most memorable dining experience I have had in years (maybe forever)...it is weird stuff that I wouldn't normally even try but we had some drinks while we waited for a table and I decided to try it. Everything was amazing...even the raw horse meat sandwich.

Dior Homme
Noir (sp?) Is apparently really good. A buddy of mine ate there last week and said the experience was amazing and the food is pretty good.

YÓu dine in the dark and get served by blind servers. I wanna check it out its been in operation for a while.

Don't know the website but try googling it.

If there is one hands down, I don't know how you couldnt love it, restaurant I would recommend in the city right now it would have to be Nota Bene. I recently went with 4 people and the tab was about $450 with at least 1 bottle of wine, four expensive cocktails, four apps, four mains and four desserts (so a very full meal out).

i really liked George. So tasty. Nota Bene is great too. I love Foxleys at Dundas and Ossington. Tiny, but great service and even greater food

Weezie's on King @ Parliament is another good pick. Small, but beautiful food.
