Unfortunately my statement reflected reality. Police asked the DJs to continue.
atb, David Guetta, Westbam and others, however, they all refused to do that. But others did. And they knew, why. Mark Knight for example said that police had him urgently asked to play...
Even the aftershow partys were not cancelled in fear for the lives of the guests.
It is over right now. Only a few hundreds are still there (most of them sleeping in several corners) - and 19 are dead now. |

| I am quite sure you got that wrong. Like woscar said, the DJs played because they want the money, to make jesus poses and, hell, its easy to play after you know people died at the event. |

Although some DJ's are dumbs with no brain, no feeling for rhythm, and only dollar signs in their eyes, I dont believe theyre of such utter .
THe reason they kept on playing was such that the organization could prevent people from leaving the terrain, and thus moving towards the exit (i.e. the bottleneck of people). |

(If you ask yourself why, the thing got reaaaaaalllly huge in the german media, even the president and stuff said that they are sorry for the victims and there are special shows on pretty much all channels all the time) |

Probably. But your mentioning of both brings me back "to the roots" and to the Berlin Summer Rave.
Actually, the "Berlin Summer Rave" seems to be the true successor of the Love Parade in Berlin. With Westbam and Marusha as the anchors this year. They try to make it very much like the original Love Parade. Add this event to your calendar, it will return.
This year the Summer Rave happened in June, next year it will be in June again (probably). This year they had 12000 guests but only a restricted amount of tickets - the organizers got 2-3 times as many ticket requests already. Yes, and that is the single HUGE difference: entering the festival costs money! You need to buy tickets to allow the organizers to cover their expenses. You will certainly never ever see Wolle XDP and Tanith playing on the Summer Rave because of that.
Due to the success of the Berlin Summer Rave it is planned to allow 140000 people to come in 2011. The location (in both 2010 & 2011) was / will be the former airport Berlin Tempelhof with its airfield.
So the Love Parade is dead, the current organizer stated that in a press conference just 1h ago. But the idea behind the original Love Parade is not.... |
