Kysora: I hear what you're saying. I've lately gotten so accustomed to this way of thinking that I have also started to think of it as the most natural thing in the world.
I have however discovered that very many people just work purely in terms of chord progressions and sound design, mixed up with the norm of whatever style they work in. Then, a title or (often vague) theme is made for the track, instead of the other way around. At least that's very much how I worked before, and although I made great music what that approach too, it was difficult when composing.
