Perhaps not the biggest development, but goddamn - high-capacity discs/DVDs.
Does anyone remember the first Baldur's Gate? Like 7 ing discs? Disc swapping throughout the game??? Urgh1hjsdhf!
And forbid if just ONE of those discs was scratched or somehow damaged.
Now games seem to fit on 1 dvd. Set up installation, walk away for 10 minutes, come back, it's done. |

| The biggest development in games has to be the dumbing down that goes on so that they can be marketed to the largest possible audience. Nobody said that the biggest thing to happen should or would be a good thing. |
