You just have to be confident. believe in yourself and people will pick up on it. Rejection is something you will get used to and it makes you a more resilient person. Know that it isn't personal. They might not even see you because they didn't plan the sessions properly and the musicians are on overtime and the contractor is yelling at the engineer who is yelling at the conductor who is yelling at his baton. They might not like your face. Its just one of those jobs that you try , you miss, you try again, and if you are persistent, it will happen.
Kismet, I am having a difficult time understanding your intentions. Do you want help or no ? |

some people don't want it bad enough. And once they are in the door, they can't handle it. You wanted to know how to get in the door. Sheer persistence, a good attitude and thats about it. Getting a studio gig job is another matter. you are dumb.Not everyone makes it but that is the only real advice you can give. Be a stubborn son of a bitch and don't give up.
You are acting like a child. If this is any indication of your real self, you are going to have one hell of a hard time. |

Nope. You're behaving as a child would. You can't possibly think of anything better to do so you're bored and want some stimulation. The only problem is that you won't or can't relate to people on their level so you have to create chaos to bring the conversation down to a level that you can relate to. |

| It's not luck Kismet, I went to a concert hall and talked to the sound guy who worked in a particular room and told him I wanted to be his assistant and learn the ropes. Because of my confidence and willingness to learn he told me when to come in. I went a few times a week for a few months before he made me realize that live sound and studio's are two very different things. He explained the difference to me and from then on I stopped going and shortly after the concert hall closed down. Interning at studio's is the way to learn the industry, school can only teach you so much. Kismet why don't you go apply at a studio and tell them what you think of your idea of having a degree and they will tell you the same thing as djrann and mad4brad. Buuuut I'm pretty sure if you get the answer, you won't be happy and will probably lie about what they told you. That's what trolls do best ;) |

I dont think anyone would relate to professional trolls on any level. Its crazy when you have people taking a poor argument on a rather simple case, why would I relate to you or anyone who thinks like you? There are professional musicians and engineers I relate to. And mindshare with, and they definately would not carry the argument you guys are carrying. So this why its been funny to watch you guys propose that a person who has no experience has the same chance, or a better chance as some of you guys have fairytaled, at getting a gig at a studio as someone with a recording school background. |
