I miss the good old relationship threads

It all starts with a nice story that painfully shows to everyone but the original poster that he is either hopelessly lost (reason why he needs some advice) or hopeless and lost (reason why we need to give him advice, unless you're Arbiter and you hope the poor sap just won't reproduce). The quality of the stories vary immensely: some writers carefully detail everything we need to know so we can help him out, whereas some others hurl a ashleyan wall of text at our monitors so incomprehensible that it might as well be written in Hungarian.

The most entertaining bit, however, follows next. Always a resourceful bunch, TA's from all over the world get together and try to solve the problem. There isn't really a consensus on what the problem is, however, so while some think the relationship in question is the problem, the more thoughtful amongst us think that our romantic hero just needs to be humoured, whereas the philosophically inclined bunch feels the need to search deeper and deeper, requiring some pictures in order to better appreciate the situation. The beauty of that this anarchic approach is that everyone works for the greater good in the best way they can.

Once we're done with our careful analyses, it's time for the intrepid protagonist to go out in the world and do something. Unfortunately, it's hard to take a laptop computer on a date with you and the girl you want to dine and wine... when you actually get that far! Therefore, no matter how brilliant our work is, our brave hero is invariably doomed to failure, with few exceptions... but the upside is that we're then enriched with yet one more experience we can preserve in our knowledge bank so, the next time someone asks us what to do, we can teach him what not to do.

There used to be lots of relationship threads back in the day, but they're now rather rare. And that's a shame. Sometimes I feel like making up a story just so I can get the wheel spinning again. And, who knows, one day we may actually help someone... so long as we tell him no letter shall ever be sent.

Marcus, do you realize you are the only person that can make threads like this, and we don't hate you for it?

Where does your magic come from?

It's amazing. I can read the thread title and go "UGHHH , who misses the relationship threads? Those are total ." But then I read that Lira posted it, and I go "D'awww.... ya know, he's right... those really were interesting threads that played out." He's got me convinced before I even click the thread. The bastard.

I'm going through some rough relationship right now and the urge to babble about it in here is strong.

Because amid all the scorning and censure and cynical e-slaps, there is always some kind of productive advice.

Also, when the situation is made fun of to the COR-extent, it always seems less serious and less scary and I worry less about it.

Alas, I won't post about my BS for lots of reasons
