TA Book Club???

I've gotten back into reading lately - I'm almost reading as much as I did when I was younger. I really enjoy seeing the "What Are You Reading" thread bumped and, perusing the recent pages of that thread, I noticed that a lot of TAs seem to read similar stuff. I came up with the idea of a sort of TA Book Club because of that.
If there's enough interest (or any, for that matter) I think it could be a lot of fun. Many of you guys that post on here seem to have 1)intelligent insights 2)interesting opinions 3)a way with words.
Figured I'd test the waters with this thread and then make a thread and get it underway if there's enough people willing to join in. So I guess just mention whether or not you'd be interested and then we can get into specifics. |

| How would this work? I've only known about book clubs from movies. Would we all have to read some book (we all decide upon) and then voice our opinions of it? |

yeah i was having a bit of trouble figuring out the specifics...but generally i was thinking yeah - in this thread we could, if the interest exists, compile a list of authors, maybe just books, we shared interest in reading. i could create a big list of books from that - we'd eliminate books that a few ppl had already read and have a list of books we were generally all interested in. then decide which we wanted to read first/whenever. probably give say 2 weeks? longer or shorter depending on what we were reading to read the book. then we could discuss the book together - probably avoid discussing key plot elements until the end of the 2 weeks but up until then discuss style, themes, stuff like that - or just anything that comes up as an interesting thing to discuss
i was thinking about what books i really want to read and the first one that came up was the new murakami novel coming out in september. unfortunately it's not til sep. 2011 lol. but that's okay. |

I'd be willing, but the What Are You Reading thread already kind of serves that purpose, being that you can go back to previous posts and comment on books that people have read. So it's kind of a giant gyrating book club with everything happening at once.
Plus the age differences on TA vary quite a bit, and quite frankly some people are so well-read compared to others choosing a book that everyone is willing to read at the same time is going to be a major pain in the ass. |

Is TA entering its old lady stages now? Because I have like 25 more years to go.
Yeah yeah I read books too but they're all scholastic. |
