Just a quick poll....

how much data availability for storage do you have?

not counting burnable cds and dvd's.

So flash drives, memory sticks, external drives, computer harddrives, sd cards, etc...????

I'm currious is TB / person normal now, or multi TB?

Also currious who has the most data availability on TA

Does anyone here use in excess of 2 TB? If so for what?

Is anyone using more than 2 TB for something other than shares and videos?

Boris has two pedobytes of storage on his computer.

Oh, and on topic, I have a TB external, a TB internal, and a few miscellaneous harddrives.

welcome back.

between my laptop, external hard drive, and flash drive i have just shy of 1.5 T
i don't use my old laptop anymore - and everything on it is backed up on my external but if i were to wipe it and start using it for storage also i'd have maybe another 250 gigs or more i don't really know.

Do you think you will run out of data space available in the next year, without deleting data?

If so, do you have data stored that you don't personally use or expect to use?

This would apply to LAdaze and anyone else who posts who cares to answer.

500gb laptop + 2tb external + 2tb time capsule, and 2tb in the desktop PC

So 6.5 TBs, gotta store the bluray rips and FLAC somehow
edit: everything is pretty much full except for the laptop and the time capsule

Clearly the storage space required for many of the daily activities that computer users around the world need every day is exponentially increasing. Storage requirements double every two years. I'm sure that I will eventually need more space if I don't wish to delete half my .

Its funny have you found graphic picture on an old hardrive from 10 years ago, and asked yourself ---- ok if this photo was 10 years old, and now 10 years has passed this person who was perhaps 30 when the shot was taken is now like 50 years old? Ever had that thought, and thought you could be looking at some 50 year old chic?

Weird eh?

Its the same as looking at some riske dutch erotica nude portrait painted in the 1700's etc.. and really realized that this person is likely dust now...

Personally Most of my data is software and music related with only a few gigs of textual / ebooks etc.. that I've collected over the last 5 or so years (had two or three massive HD crashes in the early 2000's)

So pr0n? I don't store it only run into it occassionally when websurfing (ha old term I don't see anymore) I could geuss any porno vids would take up lots of space as vids tend to be massive in native formats like AVI. Still 1 TB is probably 1000 videos or more -

DO people keep this stuff expecting to use it again? Or is it just cause they feel "better" when they have more files?

Or is it for sharing?

It is strange to think that the file sharing phenomenom has increased data storage - not for personal use, but more so to accumulate mostly junk data.

--- yada

I had the pleasure of doing my annual storage cleanup and managed to clean out perhaps 1/5th of my data in use by removing duplicates (MS needs to input a better merge function to screen out "identical files based on characteristics date, size etc.. rather than name alone - anyone who knows a software program that can manage files like this kindly supply)

So anyone care to show a tree of their data types stored?

How many videos you can fit on one TB etc...

are people hoarding that actually use this, or is it acutally data that is used regularly?

Are you using a raid system or is that what the time capsule is for?
