I think you're using the wrong adjective. What you were looking for was more along the lines of "conceited", "egoistic", "narcissistic", "self-absorbed", or "self-centered".

By definition "Materialistic" means "to be thinking mainly about physical things", not jumping up and down screaming "Look at me! Look at ME".

That being said, you're foreign so I guess your lack of control over the English language is mildly excusable.

Control "over" the English language?

I think you're using the wrong preposition. The word you were looking for was of--control OF the English language--not over it.

Also, get rid of 'lack of control' it sounds awkward. Replace it, rather, with poor command. Now we're ready to properly re-write the sentence:

...your poor command of the English language...

AND NOT

...your lack of control over the English language...

That being said, you're foreign so I understand. After all, nobody outside of Canada speaks English.

Graham, I'm going to have to go with a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B, although I do prefer "twat" over "c*nt"

"Control over" and "control of" are both equally acceptable, Seņor.

Although I will concede that "poor command" does sound more eloquent.

Kudos for your excellent use of synonymous language.
