PAUL OAKENFOLD has long been one of the most important and iconic names in modern club culture. This fall, after a three-year North American touring hiatus, the master DJ and producer will return for a solid two-month trek across the continent geared to change the face of electronic music with the FACELIFT TOUR.
Starting October 8 in Vancouver, Canada, OAKENFOLD will embark on a massive 50+ date club tour where he’ll team with some of the fastest rising stars of the genre. He’ll also appear at the Voodoo Experience in New Orleans on Halloween and prior to the tour launch he’ll appear at the Austin Music Hall in Austin, TX during Austin City Limits.
Joining him on various show dates are an array of special guests: Dirty Dutch figurehead CHUCKIE, whose mixing skills in his native Netherlands are unparalleled; electro stalwart CALVIN HARRIS, the Scotsman who has been dazzling audiences with his recent free remix album L.E.D. Festival; Australian twin sisters Liv and Mim Nervo a.k.a. NERVO, hot emerging DJs and artists in their own right; as well as songwriters penning hit singles for the likes of David Guetta, Kylie Minogue, Armin Van Burren and Ke$ha, just to name a few; and Detroit’s KENNETH THOMAS, signed to Oakenfold’s Perfecto label. World-renowned superstar DJ and party icon ROGER SANCHEZ and SIDNEY SAMSON, an Ibiza club staple also from The Netherlands making waves with his club hit “Shut Up And Let It Go” featuring Lady B, will also appear on select dates.
PAUL OAKENFOLD’s stature as a DJ and entertainer has taken him beyond the normal club and festival circuit, playing landmark gigs that have altered the perception of electronic music. Highlights include three worldwide tours with Madonna and U2 (with both artists insisting on a DJ set from Oakenfold instead of a support band); performing on the Great Wall of China and two sold-out dates playing to 30,000 people at the Hollywood Bowl in California. As the purveyor of the most successful weekly nightclubs in the States with Planet Perfecto at the Rain Nightclub in The Palms in Las Vegas--a fully produced show with 75 circus performers, cutting edge visuals and special effect for 3,000--Oakenfold knows how to create an unforgettable experience. For the FACELIFT TOUR, fans can expect nothing less as he and his tour mates will travel from city to city with their own high-end production featuring a customized giant headset stage set, lighting and sound. In addition, fans will get a first listen to brand new songs from Oakenfold, as he will be ‘road-testing’ potential material for the follow-up to his 2007 studio album A Lively Mind (Maverick), due in 2011.
