Hey ppl i was listening to Nova FM the other day and the dj they had on announced that they would be playing some brand new music by a group called 4 Strings. l thougt to myself that they'd be playing Driving and you can imagine the look on my face when they played Take Me Away (Into The Night) !! Honestly i started to laugh ...those bloody idiots!! What made me laugh even more was when ppl would request that they play that "new song by 4 Strings". Is it just me or do radio stations in sydney and oz in general suck ? That track has been out for over a year now and its only now that it is played on commercial radio stations ! LOL

Yeah well it could be worse. We could be stuck with only Triple M...
discitelli
hah hah........ yeah that happens alot in oz (espeicially in relation to trance). I was at a mates place once and they played that exact tune, and im like: "what! i first heard this like 4 months back!" and here they are saying its the latest stuff.

Its the same with heaps of tunes that were apparently the "latest stuff":

Marc et Clude - Tremble
Vaiio - Rapture
Daft Punk - One More Time

it can be very annoying but then i think hey, im one of the first guys in oz to have heard this track, which is cool.

nevermind..... we'll just have to live with it until one of us here gets a job on Nova :D

That's what I always think when listening to the radio! Hmmm....if only a TA worked there....

Some of the funniest ones were like Bomfunk MC's - Freestyler [DON'T START ME] not trance obviously but I remember hearing it a year and a half before it was "the latest tune".

Did anyone here listen to Kiss by the way? I still got 2 t-shirts back from the promotional days and a mossimo/dancenet/kiss vinyl bag which is awesome....

also from the Shuffle thread, the comments about metro underage and stuff, I remember one time a while back I was at a kixfest (oh lord those were sad days) and in one of the areas was sean quinn wearing a kiss fm shirt at a kix fm event, top notch work.

Kiss should've got the license over nova, nova's just another fox fm in my opinion. Kiss was actually up to date and their weekly lineup was awesome...

Apart from good guest djs their regulars included :
John Course
Phil K
Sean Quinn
Simon Digby
Will E Tell
Rich:)e rich
Kasey Taylor
Andy Van
Jason Midro
Eric Powell
Scott Alert
Peter McNamara

Damn The ABA (Australian Broadcasting Commission) and choosing what we listen to; contrived commercial crap.

Sorry for the long post I'm just ing frustrated!

Just another small note, do you reckon Nova will ever broadcast any events on air? NO

I remember kiss doing every picture tells a story and oakenfold/chicane at the sheds in 2000...

A little clarification.

Nova and Kiss were not competing for the same licence. Kiss was bidding for the community licence, whilst Nova simply fronted the load of cash required and got itself a commercial licence. Anyone can purchase a commercial licence, only problem, it costs the equivalent of the GDP of a small Pacific island nation.

Kiss was competing with Joy, SYN, Hitz, Kikz etc. (and lost out to Joy, SYN and another station that no one listens to).

That said, Nova will only ever play top forty stuff, and select cross over tunes. As it is a commercial station, really can't expect anything else.

Thats a bit harsh isn't it? It was only released very recently so it is new, and I don't think you knew what it was when you heard it in February :)

Sorry Wasted Space I meant that kiss should have gotten the community fuul time license because accodring to the ABA it was meant to be decided on the listener support and I've never heard of Joy and the other one... (not saying you're wrong, I'm just annoyed) and also nova shouldn't have bothered.

Basically I meant that kiss should've have got one instead of nova even though they were diff. licenses that's just how I woulda been happier.
