This is where the world is wrong. Orkidea is a superior dj and producer than emery. |
There would be something very wrong with the world if Orkidea was headlining Gareth Emery's album release party. |

Even in a world where Orkidea is more popular than Emery, you wouldn't want Emery boshing it out in the warm-up set and then Orkidea playing his style in the main slot. |

Hardly a proper album though, just a gathering of cooperations. As said earlier, nobody makes real albums now.

of course not, I'd just want an Orkidea party fullstop, and forget emery's. He's only ever done one good tune and it was nigh on 10 years ago. |

Good album. Stars and Too Dark Tonight are real nice. |
It's awfully cheesy though. I somehow find it strange that some trance heads here seem to think that Gareth Emery is still clinging on the last decensy that is left in trance music. After an initial listen to the album I can confirm that he is playing in the same league as the rest of the other pop trance acts. It's also extreamly predictable.
He mixes electroish melodics with vocals. And the vocals. Dear God is it really that hard to find good vocalists nowadays? |

That being said, Sanctuary is really really bad. |

Trance isn't dead though- it's evolved. And as a whole it's more poppy/uplifting these days. |

Which is as good as dead. |

Really? How does it stand out? I can't hear the "signature" sound of his. Is it because his sound is electroish in a different way? Or that his vocalists are different than other producers?
I haven't listened to much of his productions in recent years. I mainly recall him for his GTR productions. |
