This "remixing culture" in today's Trance scene.

For those of you who still listen to todays mainstream Trance, I'm sure you would have noticed that most of the time half of the tracks tend be remixes of older tunes, not that there's anything wrong about it but it's reached a point where it seems as if todays bigger, popular producers have those moments where they run out of dough for their cookie making trance factory, so they'll shuffle through a hundred old random classics, pick one and make a remix out of it because they were short of a cumshot on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It seems to have become more prominent as of late.
Sure even way back in the late 90's producers would use samples from tracks within the previous decade and churn them into productions claimed to be their own but even then there was at least some sort of substance, or should I say effort of creativity applied to it. This is a subject I thought I'd never post here since I believe most of you conscious beings are fully aware of this already, however the motivation behind this rant derives from the listen I gave to some new Mark Sherry podcast, looked at the tracklist and found this:
Utah Saints - Lost Vagueness (Sean Tyas remix)
I thought I'd download the mix just to listen to that track in order to amuse myself. So I did.
It was the exact same remix Oliver Lieb made EXCEPT the kick was slightly changed to the Sean Tyas signature unicorn-cheese-grater-uplifting doof-doof.
How dare you tarnish Oliver Liebs sound and call it your own remix. :mad: |

I love seeing old tracks remixed, if they are remixed by artists i like.
I cant believe Tyas would remix a tune like this, ... i bet someone else could have done a good job.
I am saying this without listening to the remix, kinda biased but Tyas is someone i have no faith in whatsoever. |

The only part I've lost faith is where a producer slaps "2010 remake/rework/remix" or whatever onto an old classic. There is a reason why it is called a classic. |

All that matters to me in this regard is that the new remix is actually good.
For example, i think Paul Oakenfold 2008 remix of Southern Sun beats the original and Tiesto remix by far. |

| these days the #trancefamily trend seems to make the remixes as identical to the original track as possible. i find it quite offensive tbh. |

Let's also not forget a heapf of those remixes now introduce that ridiculous farting techy sound like Richard Durrand and co.

Its also really cool (sarcasm) when the remixers just ignore the original artists all together -
eg Jerome isma ae - hold that sucker down
or markus shulz and justinne suissa - perception etc |

Perception is ok, since its actually a cover, but the other track.. did he not write the melody for that ? |

Its by the OT quartet, from the early 90's - check on youtube (aint got access for a link - im at work)- it was even funnier when jerome decided that he needed to do the vocal mix (i mean add the vocal from the dj tool that you can buy off beatport lol)
its one of the tunes that got me into dance music when i was a kid. (and jerome isma ae from the look of it)
