Simon Patterson!! Wow. He definitely stole the show for me. All trance needs to be played like that!
I really enjoyed Aly & Fila's set too. The rest of the trance DJ's were pretty meh for me.
Chus & Ceballos were good, but I was hoping for more tribal from them.
This was my first time seeing Hernan Cattaneo and he was unreal. I can't wait for someone to bring this guy back to Toronto.
Overall, the night was magical. Consider yourself lucky MTL that you are able to host these massives. They really are something special!
See you at BeB! |

The house room was bumpin all night, packed! C&C set was pretty good I enjoyed it, but everything went downhill afterwards.. Paulette was terrible, just terrible starting her set with shm- one and following with other cheese songs, i moved to th Le trance room. Trance isn't my thing anymore so I can't comment, I can only say that It was sad to see it so empty.. Went back to house for mark Anthony and he was worse than paulette I wanted to leave. Waited the rest of the time in the hallway and ate some breakfast until hernan came on. And man it was worth the wait... Pure epic set, perhaps best prog I've heard live. I was sober all night and dispite the fatigue he made me dance like a madman until the very last second. Deep Dark but yet so energizing! Wahhhh it was insane!
Maher I have homework for you... Book him at stereo!! |

No line up, started the night off on the right foot.
Inside by 1:30 just in time for C & C.
Their set was good, fresh, Pumping, got me in the zone and ready to let the night take off. Only problem....Why the 2-4 time Slot ??
Next on Set, Paulette. Complete Buzz kill...really butchered it up Serving 2 hours of Non Stop Cheese, yes it was terrible. So bad To the point where we were moving back and forth every 15 mins to house and Trance room, to keep the groove going. C & C paved the way nicely....way not follow up and take it away. Atlast....Paulette's off...Thank God. Marc Anthony started off perfectly...slicing off some Deep & Sexy, then just drifted and I Lost interest after an hour of his set. Eagerly awaiting HERNAN to take us on a short Journey. Delivered Progressive trip, Non Stop, till he closed it up.
His set was perfect...2.5 isn't enough for Hernan. 4 hours would have been Ideal. Overall....not bad, Hernan really helped the party making worth while, got our money's worth.
Only Issues I found was Too many DJ's, Time Slots were too Short for the headliners were Misplaced in the line up. Paulette should have been an opening Act...then again....not even on the card all together. |

| Seems like Hernan did what Victor Calderone did at the past 2 Bal en Blanc events he played at aka save the night! Although I shouldn't use the word "save" in the case of Black & Blue because the other DJs before him delivered solid sets. |

I said it before and I'll keep saying it until I retire from partying....I LOVE MONTREAL!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D
I have been to 6 BEB's but this was my first Black & Blue. The house room definitely redeemed itself for what it lacked during this years BEB.
Got there around 1, not a big VIP line up went through coat check etc with ease. As someone mentioned earlier the REAL party was in the House room....AGREED!!!! :D what an AMAZING vibe in that room all night/day long!!!! It seemed like people didn't move.
Checked out Marvo V for 30 minutes...didn't do much for me. My plan was to check C&C and Hernan in the house room and glad I stuck to that. Chus & Ceballos were great!!! fun tunes...some drums (not enough though) maybe Pablo needs to play a separate set :p I haven't jammed like that in a while....Had a blast.
Went to check out Gareth Emery...wasn't really into his cheese vocally until about the last 15-20 minutes of his set where he really picked up the pace and made me dance a lil...two tracks worth mentioning Gareth Emery-Mistral and Citadel! WOWZAAAAAAA
The only DJ I wanted to see in the Trance room all night was Simon Patterson, saw him the night before in NYC. That was my 5th time seeing him this year :D:D and I thought ASOT 450 was his best live set for me...I retract that statement and say that HE ING BLEW THE ROOF OFF AT B&B!!!!! Relentless 140bpm....beautifully programmed..amazing tracks. His set literally woke up everyone left there who were dead beat. There was some PROPPA dancing done :D:D:D:D:D:D:D My only suggestion would be for the organizers is if you are going to book a DJ like Simon, give him an earlier slot so that MORE ppl can hear his sound...it was a shame that there weren't many ppl left in the trance room at 8:30am.
HERNAN!!!!possibly the best house set I have heard this year...sexxxxxxy prog.....just perfect....he's a pro at what he does. I have seen him a few times before and he completely had me in awe. I wish it was a longer set :D AND to top it off he played one of my favourite traccks of 2010 SASHA- Sparky lives
:eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: :eyespop: I think i was drooling by that point lol
GREAT PARTY with GREAT FRIENDS :):):)!!! didn't even matter that I hadn't slept properly and had been travelling for a day since I was in NYC the night before....would definitely do it again if the line up was as amazing as it was this year. There were so many ppl from Toronto so it really felt like home away from home but with better vibe :D
thank YOU MONTREAL!! |

| so the trance room was empty? what was the overall attendance like? |

No the trance room was full from 12h30 to 6h30 pretty much :)
Since the energy is so intense during that kind of set, it always dies a bit earlier compared to house room. Don't forget that Black & Blue is a house even in the first place and 60-70% of the crowd is used to house music
You also have to consider the fact that the first room you would enter was the house room, so automaticaly people tend to pack the first one and not always discover the second room
For a first trance room at Black & Blue, it was busier than we expected
Very happy with the results :D |
