He took off with a helping hand from thorsten fenslau im assuming with force legato. With the talent that lieb showed after 94 onwards imagine what fenslau could have done had he not passed!
You can see convergent style in force legato system. Liebe with his running melodies while fenslau shows some italo disco spunk probably from his experience remixing man parrish's male stripper (which is an incredible remix by the way).
(below you can see on this B side of play it again he pays tribute to italo sampling that genre and other 80s tracks in).
Sorry for the diversion. Anyways, "the system" is a ground breaking track where from here fenslau leaves his progressive italo disco experimentation with out of the ordinary and heads towards eurodance, and lieb takes the progressive more experimental route and innovates trance.
i would go out on a limb here, i might get crucified but i would have to say that fenslau taught lieb well :). And perhaps lieb took fenslau's experimental sound to unique and different enjoyable level.

Oliver Laib is indeed a different person. He usually produces together with Martin Eyerer, occasionally also with Walter Ercolino. For example Eyerer and Laib used to produce lots of DJ Sammy's tracks :stongue: and are also behind such "hit" tracks as Anastasia - Join Me and Pearls - When Winter Calls.

What's going on with him nowadays? Is he still producing trance, because I haven't heard anything new from him for a while. That's a shame, because he's very talented and creative producer!

He quit producing trance a couple of years ago.
I think Paragliders - Fisheye / Infra Rouge on J00F recordings in 2005 was his last trance release. The same year he also released an excellent updated version of L.S.G. - Netherworld. Most DJs played Oliver Primes remix but IMO it was nothing compared to Liebs updated version.
I remember that J00F mentioned on his forum that he tried to persuade Oliver to produce more trance but he refused as he thought the genre was dead long ago.
Since then he have focused more on minimal techno.
But he have also re-released some remastered classics.

Thank you for your answer! I think it'll be helpful not only for me here. But I feel a bit sad about that, because he's a great talent. Looks like he is/and was exhausted about producing trance (who knows???).

there are probably few artists who managed to merge techno and trance as perfectly as Lieb. he is a genius

i think the black album is far better than any of the other albums, and might be one of the best albums ever in my opinion. the way it builds and keeps the red line all the way through is amazing. never heard anything that focused like ever. also the dark metalic athmopshere is very unique in edm. its a machine of an album.

his sound was just so different and unique it was actual trance music
shame he feels trance is dead now and went to minimal...i kinda agree with him trance these days is going down the tubes but thats a whole other story...
as for oliver alot of you guys posted great vids ahhhh
