If you could have your Dream Home Studio what would it be? (pg. 2)

I'm actually pretty happy with most of my setup. I wouldn't want anything bigger (been there, done that), and not really smaller either. My current setup is manageable, but doesn't feel limiting (to me). So, my dream studio would probably consist of upgrading some key pieces of gear. I wouldn't mind upgrading my preamps to something along the lines of Portico IIs, API, Focusrite Reds, etc. and I wouldn't mind swapping out my Prophet 08 for a Waldorf Q+. There are a few basses that I've had my eye on for years (e.g., Elrick Platinum 5-string fretless) and uprading my Ibanez acoustic/electric guitar to e.g., a Taylor would be nice.

I would definitely like a better room, though. My current room has acoustic issues, which I haven't been able to solve through room treatment because, unlike most people's home studios, my room sucks up all the low frequencies. Our studio/office is carpeted, has a lot of nice furniture/cabinets in it, and the walls are very heavily insulated because it's in a wing off the main portion of the house. So, bass traps and acoustic foam do almost nothing to audibly change the sound because of all the odd angles and bass-dampening material. So, our next house will likely have a dedicated studio that is much larger and better sounding (w/treatment), and possibly with a vocal booth. At that point, I'm sure I'll want to upgrade my monitors to a nice pair of Focals or Barefoots, etc.

At the moment, I'd like an extneral volume control, a pair of monitors, and a better computer. I'm moving into a new, better room in about a week so that's not there and actually, my mom has a computer (that I ing built 4 years ago) that I want. Even though I stopped using it I've still been upgrading it because I know once I move out or she buys a new one, I'm taking it. I just need to throw in my 1TB HD in there with Windws 7 so I can use the 250GB it has as back up, add some more RAM, and it'll be good. I built it pretty damn well in 2006. The laptop I bought this year doesn't come close to it's specs (with the exception of RAM, I didn't put more than 3gb in the old computer because it was running WIndows XP 32-bit).

is east to improve what i've... in fact just getting rid of my family would help a lot, is hard to mix when your mother is phone calling loudly in the next door.

Check! ;)
Got them now, perhaps in my dream studio they would serve as nearfields, but then I'd probably go for some dynaudio air's instead :).

Cocaine room?
Mad for Brad
I suppose the helicopter could have a cocaine room. Might be snug tho. I just think the budget of a "Dream" studio should exceed a few thousand dollars.
