I was going to make a post about this when I was first informed. Not only to announce the sale, but also to ask what NI have up their sleeve?

They don't do this stuff without a reason. Are any new products/upgrades being forecasted? I can't say I'm aware of any myself.

They had a good sale on their hardware a while back. They're probably going to update Traktor soon with some of the features from the S4 edition.

Have you heard that they're thinking of doing this or is this just something you'll wait for, however long it takes?

Hmmm, you might be right there mate. A new set of sound cards and the new S4 software at the top end of the packages. Ugh, i'd hate to want whatever they bring out.

Dunno how much more then could do with the new soundcards though?? any ideas?

What i think would really benefit would be USB3 cable. Maybe it can make sound tighter and more physical :D

DJRANN would know this

Personally i think usb2 is more than capable of giving us the audio quality we need. Not sure how much difference usb3 would make unless the sample rate was seriously increased which isn't really that necessary.

Should be interesting either way.

A single USB2 link can happily carry about 30 stereos pairs of 24bit @ 96kHz audio... I know of very few sound cards which offer more than 10 ;-)

As it's digital, you don't just get gradual degradation of the sound as you reach a medium's bandwidth: as soon as it starts to struggle it'll just start failing pretty seriously - missing packets will cause it to glitch all over the place. It's a bit all-or-nothing.

So no, USB3 wouldn't help I'm afraid.
