super deep stuff, I like the bit that starts around 19 min, really airy
The mix is a problem for me, I think its waay too quiet and some of the sounds(like the kick) conflict with other sounds
other than that really creative stuff man, congrats

I also don't really understand why it needs to be 65 minutes.
Well, basically, I thought Armin might need to take an extended bathroom break so I wrote this really long single...
Wait a minute. I didn't really set out to make a single, did I? No. What was it I set out to do? Let's look at the thread title as it's listed, shall we?
Well, I certainly didn't set out to count to three, so we can rule those numbers out, right now. I'm not even sure what they mean, but I didn't make them.
Well, this isn't really a thread about postal systems and I know my knowledge about post delivery is about as thick as the shrewd logic you've used to impugn my magnum opus, so I can rule out that, too.
Hrmmm... Now this is confusing... What does this little arrow on the left mean? Could it be my "Superstition" single sales are plummeting on Beatport? Well, I know, for a fact, that TA isn't so heavily integrated with Beatport that the ratings are tied in digitally with any work which would appear, here. Again, we can rule this out.
Now, we are left with three words. How cryptic! Since you've decided that your knowledge of musical genres surpasses my own and because the general meaning of things is already so munged up by marketing hyperbole like Dub, Step, Tech, Progressive, and Uplifting, I think it's safe to say that the word in brackets, whatever that means, can be ruled out.
Now, what do we have left?
Ah ha!
Two words, on of which will surely clarify this issue, once and for all... What are they? Supper? No. Super? Super what? Super Tissue? Wait. That would make three words... OOOH! Superstition - the name of my would be, hour long single so Tiesto can take an extra long Jesus pose.
I'm a little lost, here, since I don't think it's possible for me to go about making a superstition which lasts over an hour even though I have heard that if you break a mirror, the consequences can last seven years.
I don't know. It's just too specific. A superstition which lasts one hour, five minutes, and 59 seconds. But then it would need something to pertain to and since it's digital audio and not magical thinking, Superstition doesn't really fit the bill.
EUREKA!!!
I'm confident I've resolved this issue and while it might not satisfy your consternation, I'm almost positive I set out to make one of these. Not a single. Not an EP. Nope. It was an album.
Glad I could help you out, there and thanks for your support.

Thanks, man. I'm glad you like what you were able to hear.

That's definitely something I'll be working on finessing in future endeavors. After tehlord pointed out the kicks in my second version were a little oppressive, I really tried to pull the kicks down in relation to the rest of the instrumentation but I also wanted to keep a lot of back-ground and ambiance so I was hesitant about putting a lot of stuff up in volume. Some of it also has to do with the means I used to get audio rendered in the first place and the fact that I rendered leads with the back-ground so didn't have that much volume control over the project as it neared completion.
Regardless, thanks a ton for the kudos, the feedback and for listening.

ok its late, i tried listening to it actively, but i had to stop at 16minutes in, then i skipped around after that im glad i did. up until that point though i liked it, thought it was some of ur best work. maybe ill try again tomorrow. i feel as it should change and evolve more throughout.
Thanks, man. I hope you get a chance to listen to the whole thing but I get what you're saying about progression. Also, looking forward to your album.

Well ive been stuck at my house, absoloutley bored outa my mind ... I see your link i press play i think, this is sounding really good, but an hour long, i will probably end up turning it off after 5 mins because i'm in one of those "don't know what to do next bored" moods.
But you know what ...
I listened to the whole damn thing, and man, total respect to you, it kept me hooked for the 65 mins it was on ... I couldnt possibly comment on the technical side of things as it was "Very Pleasurable" background music ... But it certainly hit the spot, total respect to you man, for doing this..
At times it reminded me of early Chemical Brothers work, and that is No bad thing!
Thanks for sharing this man, appreciated!

Yes, I understand the whole album bit. Thanks for the epic super zoom on that one to clarify. As I said, some people go too far out of their way to ensure their trolling is paid attention to. (ie. taking the time to take all those zoom shots, uploading them onto photobucket, embedding them into your post, all to make yourself look like a smart ass) I will apologize in advance for angering the troll.
Anyhow, considering your "album" played straight through, and there were no defined breaks in the music to really give the sense of a new song starting, or any dramatic change in song structure or dynamic at all, it was essentially 65 minutes of the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over... you get the picture. But I'm not going to troll about it or get pissy pants and go on a self-righteous power trip over it. Oh, and your vocabulary or use of cute derogatory metaphors doesn't make you any more credible when rebuttling oh so graciously. You more or less make yourself look like a degenerate spending all his free time on forums ripping on people's music with a dictionary, while being thoroughly incapable of producing something of equal merit like you so zealously defend. And hell, if you're going to knock Tiesto for sitting in front of 20,000 people while doing the jesus pose or the crucifix, let me know when you have a sold out air hangar to DJ at and we'll all be sure to go so we can critique how your stage presense is in comparison. Kudos to him for whatever it is he's doing, he's done well for himself and I'm sure people would still go see him regardless of what he does on stage. Ripping on someone's stage presense doesn't do anything for your argument, or change the fact that the only thing I got from listening to your "album" was a beard.

Yes. Anyone who disagrees with you is a troll. So, you're disagreeing with me, hence you are trolling?
And, while I was posting I was also working on and finishing another magnum opus. I wasn't certain I would post it, in here, but since I apparently need an alibi for the ego you've so ruthlessly torched:
Seriously, dude. You're taking this far, far too personally. I've given you credit for the production gloss I'm still trying to work towards. I didn't like what you did with your work and thought you could do better with your clear talent. I'm almost certain part of you feels the same way about your own work given the effort you're devoting to controlling my own perception about mine.
This album has rightfully earned a round thrashing for the kicks being too loud, for it being too repetitive in too many places, and for a host of other issues, all of which I've absorbed and considered. You're another person who's posting in this thread who's pissed because we don't see eye to eye on the quality of your work. Consequently, you're belaboring the issue, hopefully supposing I'll shamefully rescind my erstwhile comments or at least be exposed as some fraudulent critic who can't put his money where his mouth is.

You're right mate. This has gone too far.. I digress and apologize. Just didn't really appreciate your initial approach when you commented on my track, it was 99% slander and 1% critique. I mean, if you genuinely don't like something then all the power to ya, but the overall message was a bit over the top I thought. As we're both aspiring producers, your feedback didn't serve as a very nice welcome to this community. I didn't expect everyone to like what I had to offer obviously, but I also didn't expect to be essentially dragged through the dirt upon opening the flood gates. At least give me some warning that your corn flakes were sabotaged this morning before hand, haha.
Sall good.. I guess everyone needs to vent once in a while or what not. No harm done.
Happy producing.

FWIW, it's customary for everyone who joins to get their chops busted, at some point. Also, your work sounds a little too slick for you to just be aspiring. Take care.

You think YOUR welcome was harsh... :stongue: I got eaten alive, chewed up, threw up and then fed to hyenas xD
I still like your track, though :p

I've listened 3 times over the past few weeks in between the times I had a soundcard and the times I didn't. I wrote down some thoughts as I journeyed along the hour or so:
Gorgeous mood throughtout the first 10 mins. Serves well as a relaxing experience. I thought the kick was a little jumpy, but I eventually became more tolerant to it as I went along.
When I hit around 12 minutes things became a little drawn-out. Repetitive, but it could well serve as nice background stuff. I found this to be the case up until 20 mins or so when it slowly transistions.
The section arriving around 30 mins was delightful. I especially enjoyed when the vocal and absolutely fantastic build up played together around 33 mins. Definitely one of my favourite parts from the album.
During one of my listens I was playing Fallout 3. From the 40 minute mark it really seemed to suit the enviroment I was travelling through. I definitely enjoyed what I heard.
46 min - the end was the stand out section of this album IMO. The bassline made its way joyfully through the percs and that lovely sine melody, which is certainly worth a particular mention.
All in all, it served as a pleasant and interesting experience. I personally haven't heard much music similar to it, especially in terms of atmospherics. There were some passages that I wouldn't say I didn't enjoy, but did perhaps find a little too long for my tastes. Otherwise, I can honestly tell you that I have no further criticism.
Very well done, chap. It will be getting more listens from me in the future.

I love the Fallout series. I used to play one and two until wee hours on the weeknight mornings. Normally I just shut the music off on games, but Fallout had something which really added to it.
Excellent stuff, really - or at least some of my favorites. Regardless, I should take it as a compliment that my own tune found its way in the franchise. Even if it's only for one person.
I really tried to focus on the atmospherics a lot and am glad that translated. The sign wave you mentioned is the same Combinator (I think) in Reason which lead the 33 min melody and had the extended portamento sound, prior to that.
Regardless, thanks for the feedback and the kind words. If anything, it's been a learning experience requiring herculean organizational skills I didn't think myself capable of.
