DJ booth is on the second floor overlooking the main floor. The booth placement is not optimal but now they have a giant LED wall in front of it so there's no way to put it at crowd level or, below the LED wall I don't think. My advice to them before they bought the wall was to move the booth on the floor or drop it down like 5 feet but that didn't happen. When I DJ'ed there it wasn't the most intimate feeling all the way up there. Fill it with people that wanna hear good music and I think the vibe would still be there though.
The booth sits directly above the LED wall

That space up top used to be a room overlooking the main room but now is boarded up with a doorway that leads to some hallways that run through the space. You can walk out onto a small balcony there but not much room.
Opposite end you have the like super VIP or green room, cocaine room LOL whatever you wanna call it. Not boarded up. (Older picture)

It has 1 booth in it and it's the largest VIP booth I have ever seen. Like 14 feel long orgy leather couch that they had to pull it up from the outside of that window. I don't have a pic of that. Red lighting and a private bar in the room.
Sound system is funktion 1 and it's on point in that main room. They recently added a second bar opposite the other to make double the money and that was a good decision for them. Opened the space up some too with bar crowd being on both sides. Middle is dancefloor not alot of traffic.
The movie the social network, that nightclub scene when Timberlake says I'm CEO bitch that was filmed there http://www.vodkaster.com/Films/The-Social-Network/21292 |
hmmm.... that's actually how LIV in Miami Beach has their setup.... though the main entrance to the club is down the stairs that go right in front of the dj booth... |

Eh, I never hear good things from DJs about booths seperated from the floor. That could be a turnoff for big EDM promoters who would be interested in doing a weekly. It certainly wouldn't be pleasing to the big DJs.
Remember when Ice originally opened and its booth was way up in the corner. They later built a booth on the floor and it made the place completely different. |

Yea the vibe completely changed at ICE when that booth was moved to ground level. What a good booth that was and it was super simple. 3 panels make up the entire wall and it's on wheels so moving it is an option if they hear enough feedback to re-position the booth maybe they'd do it.
I told them the first time I saw the venue move that booth down to the floor it's better for EDM events where people come to see the talent. That staircase and the LED wall used to not be there it was actually no stairs in front, they were hidden in the rear kinda under the second floor. They had a stage setup that would've worked had they put some tress up and some lights.
Another suggestion I gave them was to hang some screens for visuals above the booth on both sides of that empty black space, they already have the projectors up there just no screens. The booth has like zero lighting and to me, as a DJ I like to see nice DJ booths :D |

that explains. i was surprised by your comment.
if you think this crowd is ugly, you will find la trance crowd nasty. that's why people are not coming. it is not like people are not into music. |

I think people will go downtown if it's a good event. Look at what has happened to the Art Walk - every month, something like 20K people turn up. Obviously different - it's free - but people DO show up. Lot's of people live downtown now compared to 10 years ago.
Regarding the dj booth location, being so high up is a problem. Maybe the beauty of the room will outweigh that, but I doubt it. Peeps these days LOVE to worship the dj. Personality cult much of the time. You can't just ignore that.

| I went last night it is a really nice "Vegas Like" club. Bouncers were dicks. Sound was great. Bathroom situation was terrible. Lighting is real nice. All in all I would rate it about a 7 out of 10. |

looks like a weekly.
VC 11/18
behrouz 12/10
glaude 12/17
credit for friday night option, though not on the level of talent as saturday nights. |

| Why are people skeptic about DT parties? Ever been to Digweed at the Mayan? Where there's good talent, there will be at minimum the house heads + washing machines. |

| ive been to a few downtown warehouse parties in the past couple months...and all have been PACKED. but then again, the househeads are a dedicated bunch. |

Unimpressive to be honest. Behrouz is dope, Glaude is a always a good time. Calderone should be a decent starter show but from what the venue told me they wanted big talent there.
Everyone has been asking for PVD at a nightclub and that's who I told them should have for a grand opening 6 months ago but, easier said than done in LA with the competition being what it is.
Saturday's are still open I hope they step their game up. |
