trapped in a club? (pg. 3)

I was at Aria when Lee Burridge was playing and someone got stabbed in the hip hop room. Louis will remember this one as he was playing after Burridge.

Only the people who were in the hip hop room were asked to stay and had to talk to the police, one by one.

It was a mess for the people who were there...but it's nothing when you think that someone died that night.

No such thing! All are occupied by dangerous people and those dangerous people will always be able to get in with whatever they want. They always keep the violence between themselves but unfortnately some are very stupid and they accidently involve the innocent :(

To answer your question, yes this has happened before but I assure you this is not the normal experience in Montreal. It's very unfortunate that you got impacted by this incident but I hope you do not leave the city thinking you can't enjoy your night in a MTL club. Yes like any other metropolitan hot spot the city is troubled with gangs, however for every incident like this their are hundreds of nights that will go smoothly and without incident for you.

Sadly this is not the first time this has happened at Redlite , their have been at least 2 other shootings that I know of , one was years ago where a gang forced themselves inside the club with shotguns , and the other was not too long ago where the both bullets missed their target.

In every case I'm 99.9% sure it is linked to the people who visit the hip hop room. I'm sure there are some who are in the hip hop room only for the music and to have fun but they have WAY too many gang members there using Redlite as a base of operations , a meeting room , a war room , and as a battlefield.

Both Aria and Circus had their respective problems over the same issues and it ended with Aria closing because of it, thank god Circus made the decision this year to close the Hip Hop room. Good riddance!!!

I have nothing against the music...it's the F***ing street gangs that ruin it for everyone. Put them back on the street if they can't conduct themselves like civilized human beings. Better off being a problem for the police then for the ppl inside a club. Clearly they have no respect for anyone else so they without question don't deserve to be in a club with the rest of us.

I truly hope you don't make this the last experience you have partying in Montreal as it can be so much better most of the time.

As I said CIRCUS removed the hip hop room so you are much safer there! Not to mention some amazing trance DJs play there too! Have a safe trip home!

excellent post ;)

False, no hip hop room at circus, and stereo I think. So no violence.

V-vaughn, what sort of timelines are you talking about? What time were you trapped in there roughly, from when to when?

We got there for around 3 am I guess? In time for Menno's set which started at 4. I heard that something fishy was going on from a friend of mine who I was also with, but I didn't think it was any big deal (plus the tunes were too good to come back to reality). His set finished around 7:40 and we tried leaving with no luck. We got out at around 11 am after being tossed around like a salad in a mob of ppl by the ONE exit door in the hip hop room. So although we technically were trapped at 4:30 the trapping for me didn't start until 7:40 am.

v-vaughn i think you and your friends were right next to me most of the night before we found out WTF was going on. what time did you get out?

LOL you were right beside us? Right on. :D We moved around a lot trying to entertain ourselves after we found out. My friend actually decided to check out what was behind the black curtain upstairs and came out with a boat lifesaver and boat steering wheel that he found in some closet. Lol random, I wonder what a club like Redlite would need that for.

Whatever, I was angry for a bit by the end of it, but I don't even care. Even if I was trapped in there all day it would have been worth it for Menno's set. The best that I've seen by him, one of the best of the year in fact. Enough to finally replace SvD in my top spot. :)

Wow V! I'm glad Menno's set was enough to overshadow the drama of being trapped in that club for hours. That's messed up! And, I'm glad you're safe. I hope you had a great birthday weekend :)

People still go to Redlite ?? whatta Sketchy hole...
Sorry to hear about your experience....Atleast you made up for it with DT ((()))

Always Loved Aria, its too bad it had to close.
I remeber the day Raymond got stabbed by mistaken identity.
What a terrible way to go. I'm pretty sure, Deep Dish was playing that night and the club was closed for a bit.

As much as I do like Hip Hop, its got no place in a after hours club. House is Love, community, respect and Postive.
Two different crowds entirely, how they became mixed....
Good to see Circus made that decision of getting rid of the room.
A lot of bad energy coming from that Room.

yes, they still have their hands in things. It is an unfortunate reality of our society on how individuals organized for the sole purpose of criminal activity are allowed to proceed as they are. TO make matters worse, this isn't the first time this happens at this place.

They are bullies of grown up world... very sad

No one feels safe anymore.
