Alright, so I am a "thinker". I think all the time, questioning everything about reality, life etc. Not exactly searching for an answer, but just thinking, questioning, discovering new things......I have some thoughts below, that may make you think......ofcourse, there are those that could careless, if you are one of those, just skip this thread lol.......Since science and religion do not mix, and most likely never will, I've decided to keep religion out of it, since science is science, and there are no differents, some is in there.
One thing I always think of.....How do you know we are really here? Just cuz you can feel yourself? See others? How do you know its not a simple creation of visual effects? What if the world does revolve all around you? What if everyone is simply a character in a setting? I dunno, think about that one if ya want.....
What about destiny.....What if regardless of the choices made now, we we're already pre-destined. I mean, think about it.....For example, you say, "I'm glad I didn't go to there", but, you weren't ever going to go to the there anyways. You didn't go there. You coulda made the choice to go, but you didn't. Was it pre-destined? Is there an actual possibility you WOULD have gone "there"?
Think about it, according to scientists, we dont even use half our brain. Now, seriously, what are the possibilities? Sometimes I think we jump to the "other side", and we don't know it. Look at deja-vu's......Some call them an immediate pre-sleep, therefore, making you believe, you have "been there before" etc....but I mean, can we really explain em? Scientists are constantly searching for answers....but, how do we know ANYTHING is factual. We've all had that one deja-vu, that was absolutely insane, to the point, it was scary.
Look at pain.....No doctor can detect pain. Ever think about that? Pain, is literally un-detectable. Now, we can tell what causes pain, for example, a swollen muscle, but how can you prove its actually causing pain to the patient? You can't. Just because the muscle is inflamed, or the bone is cracked, doesn't mean you can see the pain. So what really is pain? A finger is broken, the nerves are affected, etc. but what is causing the pain? The nerves reaction to the pain? lol.....do you get what I mean? You gotta think real deep on this one.....
What about those dreams you've had.......of locations/places ......Then months later, you're driving, and although you've never been to that location, you know everything about it. I mean, whats that about? Just coincidence?
What if when we are falling asleep, we are really waking up? and all this is a dream? Who knows? What DO YOU REALLY know, that can prove that possibility wrong? Remember, try and not base anything on physical science.
People really do forget how powerful the mind really is......
One morning I had to get up about 5 hours before usually had to wake up. I hadn't woken up this early in months and months. So I went to bed that night, set my alarm clock. I woke up exactly 1 minute before the alarm went off........Now, it still amazes me, and I honestly can't figure it out. It had nothing to do with my biological clock, because my hours are totally different. Just another "weird" event.....
I mean guys, the questions go on and on and on.......
I'll tell ya one thing........there's something powerful going on....something we still aren't aware of.......For a minute, just stop your day to day life, and really think about it.....
and incase you are wondering, no, I don't do drugs.....maybe some grass once in a blue moon, but overall, I drink. :D
So, what you think bout all this? Whats some ed up that happened to you that you couldn't explain? |

This constantly happens to me all the time. I always find my self waking up moments before my alarm goes off no matter how early or late it is. It seems to happen when I think hard about the event that I have to wake up for. Strange huh? |

That's something I sometimes think about : HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? It happens EVERY TIME I need to be up early. I awaken between 1 and 5 minutes before the loud alarm goes off. Every time it happens, I always think that some mystical force "woke me up" because "it" realises that this is a VERY important reason for me to get up. |

the matrix has you...
there's more to life than we can imagine. just think about other dimensions - you can't see and imagine how they'd look, but they're still there. when a sphere passes throught a 2-dimensional plane, you see a dot which gets bigger, becomes a circle, and then becomes a dot again and disappears. well, when a hyper-sphere (4D sphere) passes through 3D space, you see what? a sphere!
ET. isn't there a slight chance that there is ET coexisting with the same world as us, but in another dimension? they can see us, we can't see them.
parallel worlds. have you ever watched "Sliders" (damn, that's one of me favorite shows)
and btw, aren't we using only like 10% of our brain?
how'd we know we're not some kind of an experiment? maybe our world currently exists in some kind of a test tube somewhere in the lab of the creatures that are searching for the same, or similar answers.
and as for pain - it's sorta like gravity. it's there, but you can't prove it. i mean, if you really think about it, what is that strange force that makes giant-sized objects attract things. intermolecular attractions? a large number of atom forces? well, scientists don't know what holds atoms together.
oh, yeah, almost forgot. how do we explain such things as love and hope? what is love? an emotional and physical attraction? is it as simple as that? hope? is there even anything to define it? "hope is a denial of reality"? maybe there's another branch of study, larger than both science and religion, something that neither science nor religion can explain. |

| I absolutely love that thought of our world, or for that matter, universe, being in some sort of container and having observers look on and see how we progress. I actually think that would be COOL. However, i think this idea pops in peoples heads because of movies where this happens. Regardless i think thats a very interesting idea, that we are just being observed and are pretty much test subjects for some greater being. i love it :D |

I belive that we don't exist we are just dreams of other living people, fair enough it all seems real but our brains can imagine things like that.

Everything can be explained by science, even the so called supernatural.
it's just that our feeble human minds don't quite get it all.
we are figuring out more and more each day though.
imagine back in the 1800's when some guy said that sickness was carried by little things called "germs" that we could't see.
everyone thought he was crazy, but he was right.
such is life. there are things going on you can not possibly begin to understand, but in time, we will figure them out.
and, pain can be detected. it is electrical impulses going up the nerves to the brain, where it is interpreted as pain.
i believe in spirtuality, the 6th sense, and all that.
it can all be explained with science though. for example in the bible, (if you believe in christianity), god was supposed to have destroyed 2 cities on either side of a river with "two balls of white fire"
geologists went back to that same area, and measured the radioactivity levels there. at approximately the same date as in the bible, there were twin nuclear explosions on either side of that river, long before that technology had been developed.
god exists, but he still follows the rules in other words.
kudos to the person quoting the "truth is a pathless land" passage. |

Well, it doesn't exactly mean there IS pain, you know? We have millions of impulses going to our brain every split second anyway, but exactly what are they....Like I said, we see the affects of pain, but can we officially say "that is pain, it hurts this much, and feels like this" by reading electronic impulses? without ever experiencing the pain or ever speaking to a person? What exactly IS pain and hurt? A doctor will say nerves are affected, etc....and you are IN pain...but thats a science related view. Like we all say "you can't understand someone's pain".....kinda makes you think more about it. Where does this pain come from? Lets face it, pain is miserable, we've all been in severe pain at one point in our life, to the point of tears, causing your body to react, your mind to react, etc. Something so powerful, but there is no exact explanation for it.
I mean, the religion aspect definitely has to come in on this topic. I am looking at it at a level higher than science. As we know, with all emotions, there is good, and bad, simple as that. Pain, bad, orgasm, good. I mean, the distinguishment between them both is odd. Besides any physical element, which doesn't explain anything but just what CAUSES the good/bad feeling, what exactly is it really? Bah, gettin real deep in this one.....I hope you see my point of view, this topic of pain can go on and on forever, if you don't use ANY religious aspect, which is where most of us turn to, when questions like this, aren't answered. |

I completely understand your point.
what is pain?
ok, try this one?
what is sound? it's vibrations that move your ear drum, which sends electrical impulses to your brain. it's your BRAIN that interprets them as the wonderful music that trance is. that part is tough to explain with science.
now, with pain and pleasure, it comes from cause and effect. when you touch a hot stove, a certain kind of impulse goes down your arm to your brain, and it knows it as pain. now, if you left your hand there, it would get burned right? so your brain interprets a negative connotation to it, so you won't do that. but really, it is just another sensation.
likewise with orgasms. it feels good, so you want to do it, so you can continue to populate the earth.
it's all about motivation. |
