For me it was fun to do and would love to do it again.. It's the first time I've ever posted any work up for people to listen to and I'm glad I did.. I can take alot from what was said and we all can only improve from taking advice and accepting criticism on our work.
We just have to practice practice practice!!! |

Oops and my opinion about the tracks:
The first one it's completely different to the rest, looks like another track, the only remarkable thing is that it sounds generic to my eyes but technically wise it's fine and is pleasurable to listen to it.
Second i think the vocal chops suck here, the idea is cool but the kind of vocals don't fit. I don't like very much the choice of sounds in the breakdown, matter of taste i think maybe sounds too organic and i prefer electronic sounds.
Third i like the progressive style feels like an old trance track however i think there are few elements ongoing in the mix at some time, some extra layers of instruments would benefit the track i think, now is quite relaxing and enjoyable to listen if that was the aimed effect.
5th it's like the oposition of 3rd here there is a crowded feeling, the piano here is difficult to follow, the reverb/delay or whatever you applyed here make it clash with the other elements. The orchestal part is very beatiful but the hats are too loud , looks like you added several layers of them, here i think some subtle hats would stand better in the mix. It's a pity because without this issue i think this'd be my favourite mix. Good music.
6th. I like the mixdown of the hats in the breakdown cool . Here there is a chord progression that feels canned, the use of the dblue glitch feature... this is cool, reminds me a bit to Gouryella - Ligaya. I don't understand why people haven't voted this, it's cool stuff.
I think i am between 1st and 6th (this sound like Sean Tyas old stuff), 4th as i said had the elements to be my fav but is hard to follow the track. |

| I don't know who did any of these, but I voted for #5. None were perfect, but I preferred 5 over the others. 4 made my headache worse and hurt my ears. I did have to think about voting for #1, as I liked it as well. |

This still going on? Took awhile to nitpick through them...
6 gets my vote.
1 was the next in line for me...as I quite liked the vibe and uplifting lead. The engineering work was also spot on and was like listening to light...if that makes any sense. (yay drugs!)
2 was ok but there were more than a few elements I didn't like (piano, vocal chopping, metallic kick) Rest was gravy.
3 felt like it took too long to get into and I found myself turning it off around 4:00.
4 - Eh...just too hard to listen to, to give any real feedback..
5 - Liked the darker vibe, got a little cluttered for me 'round 5:00. Use of strings and fx was spot on though.
6 - Sounded the most professional and well put together. (to me) Had the best intro/breakdown of them imo. Also had a nice build/drop towards 4:00. Sounded slightly akin to airbase/Gouryella as well with the lead synth and atmosphere...but I'm biased and like that kinda stuff.
Also kinda picked based on what I would naturally favorite if I were listening to pandora and the likes.
Well done on all of the tracks though! And 4 should definitely get cleaned up and resubbed in this thread...Would be silly to waste a track because it was overcompressed and whatnot. |

Track 2 is pretty sick. That was my vote. I think the square/triangle lead is lacking something though. It needs some polish, that's what my ears are asking for. Arrangement is perfect. My ears are asking for a pitch adjustment to the vocal chops, but that might ruin the timbre of the song since you'll have to adjust the rest of the song to the vocal pitch...I won't know for sure unless I hear it though, but it's just a thought.
Track 1 is great too, but it just didn't sit well with me on this given day. I have to admit I'm a sucker for creatively chopped vocals that #2 had. |

Thank you... i am just a bit stubborn and prefer to crash against a wall than changing things, i was sure the sound is loud but instead of decreasing the master and start balancing the sounds i kept raising it and making it crunchier. The choice of lead sound is most personal, i like it although i think some sounds would fit better, and the offkey note... everybody told me "this is offkey" i knew it but just got used to it and thought "ain't that bad" i am my worst enemie.
Still i have a lot to learn and need more experience, i'm exploring all the genres and i think prog.trance is what i am best at, i think the first part before the breakdown with some extra tweaks of the version i last posted is decent, just need to work on the second part which is where all is screwed, in fact the melody is simply too long, i tend to do things that i know are wrong but as i said i am stubborn and keep doing it bad.
I think i should look for another guy in my city and start coproducing, with someone to clip my wings and a 2nd opinion things would flow smoother. But well i think i don't regret joining the forum at all, i've learnt some things from you and i think i'll keep learning.

Dude, you'll get there. Keep at it.
For what it is worth on the remastered version you posted up here, that final break bit was pretty cool. I looped it back over a few times.
DON'T GIVE IN! |

OK, I know this has been dragging on and i'm partly to blame as I've just been putting it back and back so I will set a day as I usually meet deadlines when the winners but more importantly the losers will be announced on Dec 17.
I will probably do another one in the spring. |
