Thanks chaps! Jon I was always a fan of the Airwave mix too then I heard the Monojoke mix (on Airwaves LDC show ironically!) and were blown away. Tis a cracker!
Lockdown has afforded me a lot more time to spend behind the decks. I've also been doing a lot more running, getting out and exploring the countryside around where I live and been really getting into my proggy stuff (very much inspired by your Business Prog mix actually Jon/Jack). Anyway, another installment has arrived, 3 hours this time! Mostly what I would describe as trancey music I suppose

When I saw you were starting on Warsaw I expected this one to have a slow-burning atmospheric build, Dave. Turns out the first tune is slightly illusory, because this is pretty much full-knacker from start to finish. Quite impressive to keep the energy up for three continuous hours without it becoming exhausting to the ear.
If I have any mild feedback, it's that I would almost have preferred this in reverse: we start with a veritable rollercoaster of breakdowns and builds, and it's only in the last hour that things go into a heads-down acidic thump. Like Lucozade Sport on a gruelling long run, I prefer my sugary moments when I'm flagging on the final stretch, not five minutes in when I'm still warming up.
And yes, you did Blue justice this time with the mix. I could hear you set what might be described as "a conservative loop" on the outro. |

Its been quite a while since the last time I recorded a mix. In fact it's been a good while since I even had a solid mixing session. Last week I had Saturday night to myself, turned on the 10 quid disco lights, cranked the volume, got pretty drunk and just played for nearly 6 hours.
There wasn't any grand plan, just a general yearning to be in a dark nightclub. Breaks, rave, bass, disco and trance all swirl around a solid chunky prog house and techno core. I think my last few mixes have a had a more ethereal vibe to them but this one is certainly more grounded in the sweaty, grimy end of things though still with a sprinkling of sparkly bits.
The mixing is a bit inconsistent at times, there are a couple clangers but mostly it holds together! Also a note on the ending, I basically realised I was far too drunk to still be awake (anticipating a wake up from a 6 year old in four hours) so just had to kinda stop. But yeah, enjoy!

So these seem to be getting longer, couple of weekends back I got drunk, started a mix and ended up going for 7.5 hours. Its a real stream of consciousness, no real plan or anything grand like that, just wanted to play a few tunes. It goes a bit all over the place, through prog, techno, breaks, trance and back again, although Id say it mostly hangs together, think of it like a whole night out where you get to shift between rooms during the course of the evening.

The next instalment of this occasional series, which appear to have turned into Dave gets pissed and mixes until he has to go to bed! Once again fuelled with some excellent craft ale and armed with a decent haul of new tunes I kinda picked a random tune to start with and just went where the mood took me. Chunky, warm summer night vibes going on here, few ups and downs but mostly and a solid groove level with plenty of sparkly bits. Gets a little wobbly towards the end, clearly should have called it a night sooner but I think it all still holds together! Enjoy :)

I thoroughly recommend this set! It’s mad how amazing trance music is at the moment - I didn’t think it would ever make this kind of comeback
Anyway as I said to you privately, the first 5 tunes are an absolute highlight here. I thought the transition into breaks was a little jarring, but the banging trancy stuff you come back with in the middle is jaw wobblingly good!
Nice combo of oldies and new bangers to close things out too, as any good festival set would! |
