Bill's greatest contribution to life was his tutorial on putting up fairy lights using his pick up truck. And he ed that up too.

Yes, the actual quote from Sagan is "We are a way for the Cosmos to know itself."

Right! I just read that in his voice. He was awesome.

I don't know about you guys, but if it turns out to be that they will announce Dr.Wolfe-Simon's findings of arsenic based life forms in Mono Lake, I find this almost as exciting and fascinating as the finding of life outside Earth.

It means many things to many different fields including biology, astrobiology, philosophy, religion, etc, etc, etc.

I, for one, welcome our new arsenic overlords!

Yup, it was the arsenic thing.

It has been maintained that every living thing HAS to be made up of Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Carbon, Phosphorus, and Sulfur. With the discovery of a microbe that uses Arsenic instead of Phosphorus now that has been disproven.

I don't think religious ideas about human "specialness" are conclusions derived from facts about our biochemistry. :p
