Looking at that list, its mostly a mix of essential vitamins, water and glucose. Given the conditions, it'd be advisable to avoid it if you're underweight or have to engage in a lot of physical activity.
Plus you'd probably be starving and that can sometimes have an odd effect on your metabolism where you'd be conditioned to conserve energy and when you go back to whatever is a normal diet, you'd put on weight as the body converts anything excess to fat just in case you go through another lean period. |

A few years ago I did a cleansing diet for the purpose of determining which foods were making me feel like .
I consulted a doctor and he strongly advised me against the types of diets that you're suggesting. Like people have already mentioned, you are depriving your body of much needed vitamins and nutrients. There is nothing healthy about that.
Instead, I went on a pure food diet. Fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, rice (preferably brown rice just to give you some substance), nuts, fish and only water to drink. No preservatives, no salt, no sugar... nothing else unless it was 100% natural (so only herbs/lemon/lime etc. for seasoning).
The first week was awful because I was withdrawing from sugar/salt/caffeine etc. and I felt miserable. The second week I felt incredible and I lost 10 lbs (not exercising anymore than usual... just strictly from the diet). I slowly started introducing foods back into my diet and quickly discovered that I was lactose intolerant/had a milk allergy (I felt like I got hit by a truck when I had anything with milk in it). I also discovered that certain breads made me feel ty too.
The cleanse definitely changed a lot of my habits. Milk products were cut, and my caffeine addiction was killed (for quite a while at least). I have since cut out coffee entirely and probably haven't had a coffee for almost a year... which is saying a lot because I used to drink coffee like mad.
I've been considering doing the diet again because it made me feel so clean, healthy and refreshed. It's just a little hard being a student with a strict budget and wonky hours.
Anyway, I would suggest not to do the diet you're thinking of and go with an all natural diet similar to the one I went on. At least that way you aren't starving yourself and you're still getting the nutrition you need. |

| When ppl get older or have some sort of incurable medical condition, they tend to turn to this type of thing I'll loosely term as alternative medicine. There's a guru around every corner trying to selling some sort of crazy to give you better health, make you live longer, or fill some spiritual void in your life. You don't see animals doing this crazy , popping vitamins and downing energy drinks. You could stick to eating a balanced diet high in fiber, fruits & vegetables and low in sugar, fat and processed food, but that would be boring, you need some sort of extreme thing like this. Guess what your colon is designed to process food into without being cleaned. |

The digestive tract is designed to process reasonable amounts of organic food. Most people (including me) do not eat strictly organic food, and generally eat too much in general. Even if I went strictly organic today, remnants of the processed food I have eaten up until this point would remain including some that are impacted along the digestive tract, limiting its ability to absorb nutrients. Toxins from all kinds of sources (not just food) are stored in the body, and this cleanse is intended to remove a large amount of them. This is not a diet with the intent to lose fat. It is primarily a detoxification program with a side effect of weight loss.
And IGK, there's a new regimen that just came out that fits you perfectly in which one survives strictly on a diet of dick. The upside is that you get to eat as much as you want. |

rapid detox diets are full of crap. Your body does a perfect job of detoxifying, these are a massive waste of money and can actually be harmful.
and the concept of "cleaning out the pipes" is just laughable. |

The only money involved in this program is the cost of about 50 lemons, some maple syrup, and a small amount of cayenne pepper. If that's "massive" in your eyes, you need to ask your boss for a raise.

If someone doesn't eat for ten days, and solid matter is coming out their pooper at the end (as it has with a few friend of mine who have done this), where did it come from? |

its most likley the fibre from whatever it is you're eating/drinking. Laxatives in general are high fibre, and the way they work is actually by forming bulk in your colon by retaining water. This bulk triggers the peristaltic response, literally all the sphincter muscles in your colon start squeezing and pushing poop along and out.
If you have a functioning liver and kidneys (ie don't medically require regular dialysis) your body is excreting all the toxins it needs to.
And the colon doesn't require cleaning. |

| I may sound like I'm defending it here, but I'm really just rebuking the stupid obvious accusations. I'm not set on doing it yet, still just looking for input. My sister is a nutritionist and she has done it with good results, and a few friends have spoken very highly of their experiences. |

The laxative used in this program is a tea. I forget the name right now, but it contains no fiber as best I can figure. You drink it at night before bed, then in the morning you drink a tall glass of water with sea salt which causes some pretty intense party time on the toilet. The only fiber at all is whatever solids come off the lemons when you're juicing them. |

I hate to break it to you, but you're not rebuking stupid and obvious accusations, you're just parroting the ill-informed and mostly incorrect propaganda that advocates of rapid detox put out.
My brother is a doctor, my sister-in-law a nurse, I have friends who are doctors and nurses, I worked in a hospital for 4 years, and I'm a scientist.
Rapid detox is crap and just not needed. Something approaching a balanced diet is all you need, your body generally does not retain toxins unless you have some kind of underlying diease. |
