After being on the board for awhile it seems that our community has members that seem to prefer either the clubs or raves and there are even some who attend neither, so use this thread to tell us if you do or dont go to clubs and raves or if you just dont go to any and why.
ill start it off
I love going to raves because i can act however i want, dance however i want etc.. and everyone is cool with it, i meet lots of peeps and overall the vibe and music is amazing
why dont i go to clubs? : im not old enough but even if i was i would probably enjoy raves more |

I only started partying when I was 18 went to about 10 raves but had my differences with candy ravers.
I find in the clubs the music is louder, more organized, safer, and the DJs that I enjoy carter mostly to clubs. The vibe probably isnt as friendly at clubs, but I dont care as much when Im rolling and dancing I dont talk to anyone anyways.
But I still enojoy WEMF, wish I was going this year :( |

Flec I think you will like clubs much better. Firstly the lighting and sound quality of nightclubs tends to be far superior to raves. The good clubs such as Guv and VIVA have sound engineers set up the sound system and they optimize the hell out of those systems so that the sound fills the room completely. Lighting is also much better, unless we compare it to ID&T partys.
The crowd however would likely be much friendlier in the rave party, however I would not know because I have yet to attend one! But clubs tend to have HOT, and I mean a lot of HOT chicks... |

...just proclaiming my allegiance to the clubber nation
to be frank, WEMF will be the first ever *rave* I’ll attend, but I don’t know if you’ll classify that as a rave |

Mainstream raves are parties.
Anyways, I prefer parties, or illegal raves over clubs anyday. I like vibes and places where people respect each other (unlike the guv and other TO clubs) and go for the music. I love having space to dance and BREATHE. I only make exceptions for clubs if they're small and are not packed to over capacity. |

I go either way.
I club
I rave
I club-rave
I rave-club
Remember folks... the music IS different in either environment. Usually club DJ's play the big techno and trance anthems months after the Rave DJ's have gotten tired of those tracks |

Raves? what the hell is that?
IMHO days of raves are over. It's all moved to clubs. Old-skool raves got older, and go to clubs now.
The raves that we do have, are pretty ty. Hullabaloo, Big Bud - these guys can't afford one decent headliner. WEMF is happening only once a year - but I think even WEMF is getting more commercial. |

*I dont mean to offend anyone and it is nothing personal. I just want to make something clear.
I hate to burst your bubblre guys but RAVE IS DEAD!!!!!!!!!! . How many more times do I have to say it. I have no clue why they call them "raves" here. They are not Raves. Rave Was killed by house music back in mid 1996. Rave was a style of electronic music with a tempo of 160 BPM in 1994 which then rose to a 180 BPM standard. I am NOT Talking about Happy Hardcore. Happy Hardcore was the deep underground version that followed and entered north america in late 95 (I met a DJ in Highschool who spun it and he told me this). this music was called RAVE!!!!! Hence the terms.. RAVE NATION and Rave On that also were made into songs (which I got). Rave was the the offspring of Techno which got really big in 92 with such groups as 2 unlimited and so other Euro DJs and many from the USA such as LA Style. Rave was born after Techno in early 94.
Now... I went to raves here and uhm .. well.. I do not hear any rave music there. You know why? Cause Rave is D-E-A-D. I have come to accept that Rave is dead (as much as it sucks cause that was a great era). Now, A Rave (as I experienced it) was usually in stadium, warehouse or some huge basement (don't remember too well if you know what I mean) where these DJs played or tehy were hed mostly in Large fields. Usually they rented the land farmers to have Raves. Unfortuantely this is where Extasy or E ws introduced. The drug consisted of %60 speed and %40 Cocaine and cost a steep 100-500 Deutsch Marks (about $79-$350). They lasted upt to 28 hours back then STANDARD. I went to them every weekend when I went back home to Germany and Holland for 2 months. I experienced it fully including the permamnet aftermath. But it was the greatest time of my life and unfortunately it will never return.
That is what Rave Was. What we have today are not raves as they do not play that music there nor does it have the same spirit. Noffence but these "raves" here are in fact not Raves. I already defined Rave for you.
Somehow Rave was misintrepeded when it was introduced here in North America and I suppose Rave took a new definition now in the world as well. I just hate it when they call them "raves".
I am not trying to piss anyone off or offend them. I just want to clearify the subject. |

I'd have to agree with you there!!
But, even speaking of raves.....there aren't many here, and they aren't as good as the ones in Europe. We lack the support here. |

It's good to see people thinking that raves are dead now, Why is that good? Well it was becoming rediculous, all the "cool" kids were coming to raves having no idea what to expect, and people there for the wrong reasons or for negative reasons. I think those days are getting past us now and we can go back to the little family we once were :) ..hehe When everyone would give you a hug and give you a massage, even if you didn't know them, the days were you could sit down and have a light show and a get a nice Massage and kiss from the opposite sex. Ahh..those were the days,so many stories I could write, people didn't really understand, that alot of the people actually "lived" this life, not just partied on the weekends, it was an amazing time. It's not like that anymore, because to many people = People you don't know = Less comfortable = Not a good time.
Anyway, that being said now, I am a grown man, and those days are in the past, but I always have my memories. Now, I prefer clubs, at my age I like casual sex (who dosen't) :) and raves aren't about that, (maybe sometimes) so I go to the clubs now. Were the money and the hot girls that want to have fun. It's a totally different scene, but one day the magic will come back to raves, and I'll be there when it does :)
lol..anyway..getting back on topic, check me down as a Clubber (former raver) :tongue2 |

sorry i forgot to add the "jaded raver" option
big ing deal that "old school" rave days are over but do u honestly think that "parties" like big bud, hullabaloo etc.... should be classified as the same as clubs?

i thought back in the old days there was no "headliner" it was all locals etc who were there to have fun
about your definition of rave, yes i know its not the same as b4 but i sugest you check the dictionary as well for their definition :)
once again, i understand where u are coming from e master so in your case i sugest you replace the word rave with party ever time you see it however for the rest of us who have not had the oppertunity to experiance the rave culture you have we are still going to call it a rave ( btw i dont say "rave" in public i just say parties) |
