A tinfoil sleeve will prevent the codes from being picked up.
Pro shoplifters use foil-lined shopping/enviro bags to put their stolen items in to walk out of the store without setting off the RFID alarm at the door. |

I work for Loss prevention for Td/Ct. It's amazing you do what you do...
Another tip: if you have a higher limit on your debit card but don't use it, LOWER IT. That way if it gets copied they can't take out as much... ;) |
I should really see what my limit is on my card lol |

Really this is the fault of the merchants, not the CC co's or the consumers.
A credit card number and an expiration date *shouldn't* be enough to order an item. When I worked for a retail company we would check the card number against the address to which the card was registered (i.e. your home address) as well as the CVV2 (the three numbers on the back of the card in the signature strip). Neither of these pieces of info are stored electronically on the card so you need to have a) the cardholder's address and b) the physical card to check the CVV2.
We were never _ever_ taken by CC theives, though they certainly tried. Lazy merchants cost everyone money. They should be confirming every order with the registered address and the CVV2. Simple but somewhat time consuming... |

How would you guys check?
In the States you often have to show your driver's license as well, which I like. Here, half the retailers don't even check if your signature is the same! |

Paypass uses RFID
No, tin foil will not block a signal. |

Once in a blue moon, they asked to see my ID. Some older woman behind me was telling the cashier to check my ID. Guess the older woman didn't like the fact that I have a CIBC Infinite card, guess because I was dressed like a bum lol
Plus some do check my ID seeing, my signature varies at times. Guess Canadian banks should issue credit cards with photos on them. |

I think it's technically against the Visa & Mastercard contract terms if a merchant requires your driver's licence. So they can't refuse a sale if you don't give them your address. |

Then like Jester said, the companies should get credit cards with photos on them or something. There needs to be better protection plans b/c this Pay Pass thing sucks, and the chip is useless when 80% of the retailers don't even have a proper machine. |

| Doesn't really matter, credit card companies will reverse the charges no problem. they have a fraud department to deal with that stuff. Let them figure it out with the multitude of revenue they make. But again i guess its a hastle that you have to call them etc. |
