The Christmas Question:Do You Buy Gifts For Someone Who Buys You Nothing Every Year?

i was reading an article about bad gift giving and wondered have you ever or still do buy christmas presents for someone who every year gets you nothing in return or gives you something they had laying around the house?im not talking anout someone who really cant afford gifts to give back but an average person you care about whos in your life who could easily afford it but just doesent make the effort?
i was explaining to my friend how over the years ive slowly weeded out people like this on my christmas list.i still have friends that i give gifts to that give me nothing but these people are there for me in one way or the other every year and really dont have a lot of money so i dont see it as an issue.
i understand its the thought that counts but when someone doesent take the thought to do the same i question why im still buying them something year after year especially when moneys tight and im not rich.
now i have some great examples but ill start with my ex.for the 3 years we were together i spent 200+ dollars on her when i was making zero money,and in return she would get me nothing and say"ill make it up to you when i get paid" but never did.
so after we break up were still close and christmas rolls around and she says"i know i havent gotten you anything for christmas before but this year i have something really nice i want to buy you"
cool.i know she wants the new jlo perfume(this was a while ago) and i cant find it in my area.i finally get a bottle at like 100 bucks afeter driving everywhere to get it.i give to her.she tards out over it.shes so happy about it.my turn:
"oh i wasnt able to get your gift right now ill get it later and give it to you,promise!"
i never got the gift.
so.
next christmas she asks not serious but serious(you know what i mean) "so what are you getting me this year?!"
"nothing" i say
*ignorant look comes across her face* "why not?"
"because every year i get you something and i recieve nothing in return year after year"
"thats not the point of giving gifts!" she says
"a simple card would be enough to me" i say."your not poor,you just dont make any effort".THATS the problem i have.
"your just selfish"
well i spent your present money on some nice clothes for myself i say.so i guess i am.
we didnt speak for a while after that.good times.

my favorite one in here is the guy who gives his parents the frame with his picture in it.
so anyone else have people like this in their lives?

| I refuse to buy for people who never buy back. We used to spend loads on my cousins and they still expect my auntie to buy back and put their names on it, despite the fact that both of them earn more than she does now, so I just don't bother anymore. |

That. Its not a trade or anything, when i give rpesents is because i either want to give them or that i think the person im giving it to will really like it. Never erally cared if i get a gift back in return. |
