Also, you don't have to spend a lot of money to find a nice champagne or sparkling wine. You just have to know where to look. Don't go to a supermarket or a liquor store because they're just going to have the standard . Go to a place that specializes in wines or alcohol and check their selection.
My favourite sparkling wine is by Gloria Ferrer. It's a California vineyard so we get it pretty cheap out here. |
You californias have it lucky, since that part of the us is basically the vine country and there are many great vineyards within a few hours driving distance that specialise in a good sparkling wine.
Champagne is a bit trickier for anyone outside europe since in order to be called champagne it has to come from the champagne region, but find a proper vendor and all is well. Tonight we are getting wasted on Krug! |

Yeah exactly. I kind of took California wines for granted until I went to a few vineyards up north, they are actually REALLY good. I have a new found love for Zinfandels from the Sonoma region :D |

You're supposed to serve salmon with a white burgundy or even a pinot noir.

Oh i totally got hooked on they a few years ago. Still trying to get a few friends hooked on it as well, but its kind f hard sine this whole country is basically a wine country so theres a lot of old world wine making pride going around :) But the Sonoma Zins are really magnificent :D |

| In Russia, we also celebrate the Old Year. Before it hits midnight, we open a bottle and say our farewells for 2010. : ] WAT. |

| How anyone can drink anything other than good red wine is beyond me. |
