Here is my Tiesto review:

Decided to get to the Hard Rock around 8:00pm. The Hard Rock website said doors open at 9:00pm while the Tiesto ticket said 10:00pm. Asked someone in The Joint box office when doors would open and when the show would end. They said they were shooting for around 9:00pm…his advice was to be in line at 9:00pm with the show ending around 4:00am .So got in line around 9:00pm and with in 20 min the line started to stretch around the corner towards the Pink Taco. Started to hear music playing inside at 9:45pm with doors opening shortly after. No security pat downs everything was easy breezy. We bought our tickets early and had floor access. Some people had 2nd or 3rd floor access only. So if you are thinking about going to any upcoming shows and want the floor buy early. Got in and walked around a little. The stage had a big red curtain drawn…kind of like a Broadway show. The opening DJ Max Vangeli had to play in center of the main floor where all the sound boards/mixers and lighting techs stand. Didn’t really feel Max’s set so I was itching for Tiesto to come on. I was thinking he would go on around 12:30pm but he didn’t come on till a little after 1:00am. Tiesto played hard and fast all night. He had everyone movin’ and groovin’. Great crowd vibe. Played a mix of hits from SHM to Kaskade, to Deadmau5. Played Tiesto favorites like “Traffic” and “Adagio for Strings” He even played a quick 45 sec mix of Solid Groove- “This is Sick”. He ended up playing a little past 5:00am.

For some people they will never get over Tiesto’s change in style. Back in college around 98’ I used to walk to class listening to the Black Eyed Peas (pre Fergie). They were awesome. They had such a great sound like “De La Soul” or “Tribe Called Quest”. I would throw them on during house parties and people would be asking me who they were. With the addition of Fergie everything changed…there style, there music. They even said in a magazine article that they sold out. But there were tired of toiling in the underground. Some fans stuck with them and embraced the change and some didn’t. I for one embraced the change. I still like the Black Eyed Peas but it’s sometimes hard to get over that old nostalgia. I’m the same way with Tiesto I’m embracing the change. Even though he has changed his style the guy still puts on a hell of a show and knows how to entertain a crowd. Yes…that nostalgia is still there when I remember seeing him play one of his most epic sets at Space Miami 2005 during WMC. But over all I though he played really well and I had a great time dancing.

The only two gripes I had were the drink prices and the sound. Make sure to get hammered before the show because a mixed drink was $18.00, beer (which came in only cans-no tap) was $11.00, and bottle water was $13.00. However, the bartenders were super cool. They filled my glass with Vegas finest tap water for free all night. Lastly, I didn’t notice but after the show my ears were ringing even until the next day. So I would recommend bringing earplugs.

So all in all I had a blast. Met a lot of cool people, the crowd was really into it and I danced my ass off.

By the way...the Cosmopolitan is super sick. It makes the Palms and Hard Rock look like a dirty truck stop. I can't wait to hear people's reviews on Marquee in the coming months.
