heres the review i wrote up for ttl:

alright i guess i'll write up my review on this now...

got to the hard rock pretty early cuz my gf and i wanted to eat dinner before the show. so we grabbed some grub and had a couple drinks at the cafe. doors opened at 10 and it was probably 10:10 by the time we walked into the casino. as soon as we walked in the entire casino was full. there wasnt a seat at a table empty anywhere. so we went to will call and picked up our tickets. probably took less than 5 minutes to get through the id check and the will call line where they handed us our physical tickets. since neither my gf or i wanted to go in yet we simply walked around the casino and looked for a bar. got a couple drinks then decided to spend like $20 playing the slots to kill some time. my gf put in $5 and within 3 minutes she hit it and got up to $57.80 so we cashed out and used that money for some drinks at the joint. so we walked around the casino a bit more and probably just went into the joint around 11 or so.

basically walked right in because we didnt have to go through the will call line again. for anyone whos going to attend any of these shows, this one was sold out, and it is no problem getting in at all. theres basically no line. its not like a club where they want you to stand outside so they can look cool before you finally get in. so to save yourselves some time i wouldnt show up before midnight. there is absolutely no need to!

once we got in max vangeli was playing on the stage with the curtain drawn behind him covering tiestos setup. we heard about 15 mins of max before an21 came on. an21 did a nice job opening. couple tracks were pretty badass with a few meh tracks thrown in. also during both the opening sets on the video screens on the side of the stage it announced the afterparty at vanity featuring tiesto with an21. kinda wanted to go to that but knew i probably wasnt going to make it.

my gf and i waited towards the back with a nice view of the place while both max and an21 played since it was close to the bar. had a few drinks. $8 for a beer so that wasnt too bad. my gf got a redbull vodka later (that was extremely weak) for $18, but it, the casino paid for it essentially. :D

we were told the show started at 12:30 so we headed down to the floor around that time and found a nice little spot and about 2 minutes later tiesto came on. perfect timing. lights went dark, the chants for tiesto started, and the music faded in. really nice opening with the curtain dropping and i think the beginning of the set was probably my favorite. the floor was a bit full at the beginning but never disgustingly sardine box kind of packed. about 45 mins into tiestos set people started to thin out just enough so you werent constantly getting bumped which was a big plus. basically the entire night you had room to dance and it was never annoying to be in the crowd. this is one thing you defiantly dont get a lot of big shows. it was pretty quick and easy to run to the bathroom and back. never missed a song which is always my worry when im trying to record each track.

onto the actual set. i thought the beginning of the set was the best. tiesto came out strong but then played what felt like 10 straight softer vocal tracks which for me is okay when its a track here or there but it was just too many in a row. honestly after the first hour i was fairly bored by what he playing. he picked it back up with a couple farty electro tracks (which honestly i dont mind when thats not all the set consists of) but it didnt last long. then he went into his classics and that was basically it. 3.5 hours total from about 12:30 to 4am but i kinda expected more.

honestly i was bit disappointed by the entire show. what i really didnt like was that tiesto barely spent any time at all in the booth and when he was there he was just on autopilot. he basically spent the entire night talking to his vegas buddies. tiestos buddies > the crowd who paid to see him apparently. there was one transition that he almost missed too. coming out of feel it i think it was. his mixing seemed worse than normal and the crowd umm, i dunno. people were into it but honestly i think i prefer an arena show like the orlando ones from 09 and 10. i guess the people at the joint either havent seen tiesto enough or are too used to big shows, but the energy at both orlando shows was just through the roof. i didnt quite feel that this time. but i think it also has to do with the fact that the orlando shows are 18+ and those kids have NEVER seen anything like a tiesto show before so they really get blown away. also i prefer the huge led screen to the 7 balls. there were some new circular lights setup to the left and right of the stage that were powerful as hell and those i defiantly approve of. there was also confetti that fell from the ceiling and it was cutout nyana birds which i think was the nicest subtle touch of the show.

couple more things i wanted to comment on. tiesto was wearing a distressed iron man shirt which to me just show how much tiesto is becoming more and more americanized every single day. in a way its disgusting. its not just the shirt, but all the talk about football, and twitter, and the pictures with snoop dogg and all this that hes just getting into now. hes changing in every imaginable way.

he also said the most retarded thing in video 34 zombie nation. "its super bowl weekend so i had to play this record." wtf does zombie nation and the super bowl have to do with one another? come on tiesto. keep it real.

although this review may sound a bit negative i without a doubt had a great time. not only at the show but also in vegas. one of the better recent vacations ive taken. everyone was so friendly, the food was great, it was so easy to get around, and my girlfriend turned $10 into $691 on the slots on the very last night! in conclusion, if you wanna go to vegas for a show, make sure the show isnt the focal point. if you can go for 3-4 days and stay entertained with all the other stuff vegas has to offer and just put this show on the itinerary then its worth it to go. but if you go solely for the show you may be a bit disappointed.

and heres some pics:

the first picture is the tiesto billboard they got in vegas. i saw it multiple times in multiple parts of the city. there were also tons of cabs that had tiesto signs too and the hard rock had flyers and posters everywhere. the 2nd and 3rd to last two pictures was a girl who was wearing a hoodie that when her arms were stretched out she looked like the nyana bird. kinda cool. the last picture is the nyana confetti i mentioned.

hey great review man- and the videos are pretty decent quality too.
how big is the place? in some of the videos you seem kind of far back- is that basically the back of the crowd/by the bar area?
that track list just doesn't do it for me :(..the other side mix for instance. i don't wanna hear that lol. this kind of thing makes me wish i were old enough to be into edm 10 years ago...

you're lucky to have won some money before going out! my typical vegas clubbing experience has been something along the lines of : play some games until i'm between -150 and +50 and then go out and spend more....winning 70 before hitting up the club must be a great feeling lol

the place is fairly big. i was towards the back of the main floor section. behind me was a section equally as big as in front of me but that consisted entirely of tables. if you see the an21 videos thats from behind the vip table area and by the bar.

see the black box? i was essentially in front of it but about 5 steps off to the left. the railings and is all the vip tables and that extends more than the picture shows. probably 5 of those rows of tables.

heres another decent picture the only thing missing are the couches and tables in the vip section.

also for anyone who goes make sure to bring a drink with you! they dont make you throw your drink away before entering. all they want you to do is pour it in a plastic cup and they have plenty there as you're waiting to get your id checked.
