sets i caught

1-jon the denstist- excellent, but he played too early
2-comander tom- brutal....i dunno what he was thinking
3-lange- wicked, minus the technical difficulties...

4-pulser---off the fukking hook...seriously amazing, the massive melodies, the epic breakdowns, the huge chords and massive driving sound and build-ups..it was perfect trance!..i want all his records : ).......although the entire set i was waiting for cloudwalking, but he never played it(WTF)..that was the only letdown, i thought it would have been the last track, but it never made it in... :( ..cause that track would have blown the place up!

and a cool dude, and when the sunrise broke through the clouds in the middle of his set.....HOLY .....amazing

i even walked up on the stage to see his view..it was wicked..the sunday morning sets are always the best...this even topped christopher lawrences morning set from last year...

if you were there you likley saw me losing it at the front..or sneaking onto the stage....hehe

wemf was fun, only went saturday, the only decent tents were the psy, destiny, and phlux tent...fuk i love partying under the stars!

Just a question....

Did anyone feel that the trance spun by the djs was a tiny bit slow?

I personally loved Yves Deruyter's set, nice hard bangin' tech trance. :D

Lange's set was good, BUT, I still like him more as a producer than a DJ. Hopefully time will balance that out. ;)

My favourite set of WEMF '02 was:

Josh "The Funky 1"

^^^

This guy NEVER fails to deliever that wicked funky house!

yeah it was a bit slow i agree....... but i like that uplifting melodic "" trance...hehe

want faster trance, hit the psy tent...that was crazy

anyone catch christopher lawrence's set?...
anastasia
Yves and Lange were my fav sets.
I was dancing crazily at the front to all of Lange's set and even got his autograph.
I was alos lunky enough to get back stage - level 2 braclet and got to take some cool pics and even chatted with a few. I enjoyed wathcing Vinylgroover spin and Yves is so techinally percise.

Christopher Lawerence set is amazing. We have the cdr from Friday nights as well as a few sets. Only problem when the speaker sounded liek it was cracking the audio problem showed up in the disc. Still loved it when he spun Overdrive :)

I caught all the main acts at the Destiny Stage - disliked Scott Stubbs - not going anywhere.
Commander Tom's openning track was amazing - designed for the event.
Graham Gold was so so.
Wished they put yves, then Lange then Puslar.
Wanted ever so badly for Lange to spin Memory but never. I was so happy for Such as Life.

Too hot to sleep during he day. Too cold at night. Only had 4 hrs sleep and sleep soon.
Song I heard alot - Cafe Del mar

I am off to bed will write it all later along with the tracks I remember.
I also have tonnes of digital pics.

Hey,

I remeber seeing you anastasia! I snuck back there about the same time! Does anybody remeber a dude with longsleeve shirt, with dark blue light blue and light greay, almost white khaki type pants, and adidas indoor soccer shoes (so great to dance in) with white gloves goin mad to every good tune?? My hair was all gelled and spikey, and I was wearing shades in the mornin...

Exergo, saw you too bro... you gave me the idea to sneak backstage! And I thank you for that!

Anyhow I was kinda pissed that I only say a few tranceaddicts... a few times I wanted to just yell out 'Where fore art thou tranceaddicts!?' cause I knew they were out there, but I wasn't about to go ask person by person..lol (althgouh I DID ask a few, but the responses was negative :( ).

Now I got down there saturday in the afternoon/early evening.. no tent, just a bag with basic necessities... I danced ALMOST non stop till like 11 or 12 am sunday morning!

Now about the sets:

Yves Deruyter - Holy ! I LOVED it! Although I wish he had played more M.I.K.E , like comon! But it was awesome, the whole night made up for it in the amount of M.I.K.E tunes played!

Graham Gold - Had never heard him before, and didn't know what to expect.. and although his track selection wasn't consistently good, he played two or three FCUKIN INCREDIBLE tunes! One of which I was on the verge of completely breaking down ( I havent done that to trance tune in ages!), and I can't freakin wait until the tunes are IDed, or until I buy his set...

Lange - Really good set! Epic after Epic after Epic... but one question.. did he play his new single like he was supposed to, or what??? Anyhow, aside fomr a few tech difficulties, it was a great set! And Lange is ALOT shorter than I expected, the man is like 5'6" or sumthin! But man what a genius!

Pulser - Now Andy is THE MAN! I wasn't too sure about how great his djing skills were gonna be, but he mixed flawlessly (actually did a better mixing job than Lange suprisingly! Shouldn't it be the other way around??), and his track selection was freakin GREAT beyond belief! Following in the same trend as Lange before him, it was EPIC after EPIC after EPIC... And yes, the sunrise WAS incredible, he pointed at it to all of us, and then played the most PERFECT tune right after!

I got to speak with both of them after their sets, and got to shake their hands and all that... I asked Andy Perring when his new single was gonna come out, and he said November, and he also said that he has about 6 other tunes that are either ready or gonna be VERY soon, but I doubt they will all be released at once.. and it was also unclear whether they were singles or remixes... I also spoke to Lange about EC and how they should NEVER go in again, cause they dont appreciate them like we do, and we got to talkin about the tiness of EC, and how their tracks were cutoff and all, and it was great! They told me how they were like wtf? throughtout their back to back 'set' of like 3 tunes... lol
It was awesome! Lange and Pulser are two FCUKIN cool guys, very down to earth, and very nice! ALSO I think Andy had a crush on my sister, he kept smiling and winking at her, and I was trying to get her to slap it down, and she went and talked to them right on the bus (yes we had to chase them cause she was taking too long... lol
They had even invited her to come along with them!!! And as much as she wanted to ( and I wanted her to ;) ), she didn't.. lol

I dunno what else to say.. I might think of something later, but we should definely try to figure some of those tunes out soon! My memory aint the greatest... lol

IN conclusion, wemf was nothing less of spectacualr trance wise this year! Plus there were alot less people than from what I remeber in 2000 and 1999...

P.S: Trancearmada where the hell were YOU??? :conf:

<--- its me SAGE2635. I had to signup with a new username since I can't log on with my old one. :(

Boy_Trance, Trancearmada could not make it to party. And I could not make it for the 7PM meetup at the DestinyStage as planned since I left my house around 11PM sat night and got there around 12:30.

This yrs event seemed really empty compared to last years WEMF. Still I had an amazing time. nothing better than getting to hear one of my favourite producers Lange for the first time. His set was definitely Off the Hook! yeah! OFFFFFFFFF the HOOOOOK!!! got me moving the entire time. (sucks that there were too many technical problems during his set) Nice selection of hard/epic lange style trance (many new tracks that I couldn't identify). :) haha! I kept telling him after his set how it was the best set of the night. Pulsar's set was just as good :) Had the opportunity to walk both the djs from the Destiny Stage to the gate after their set since they had to get to the airport for a flight back to UK in 2hrs. Had a nice conversation, all I can say is they are very nice, down to earth people. I offered to carry Pulsar's vinylbag while walking to the gates but he replies "No, I don't want you all thinking so highly of us" (mrhmmmm...maybe he was afraid I might run away with his vinylbag :D lol)

Well the long drive at night up that lonely/dark road to the party was all worthwhile in the end. I got to check out some amazing djs and had a great night... Yves Deruyter's set awsome too, but at times his mix of techno/trance didn't quite appeal to me. Nice meeting DJ-Hordash and some other friends not from TA. Only thing missing from this party was Christopher Lawrence's early SUNDAY! morning set. (damit Destiny :whip: :whip: :whip: why did you all have to schedule his set for Saturday morning this year)

To all TranceAddicts who missed this party, make sure you come out the next time Lange is here..... See ya'll at SummersEnd :)

I wish the Destiny stage was in a tent instead of its current setup....

I didn't like hearing the echo of the music when I moved around the area looking for people, it was quite weird for me....
exergo
i hated the music in the tents...seeing the stars, the fresh air was the best, the tents all stunk of grass and mud...the main stage was the best..yeah the sound was a little off...but well worth it

and the moment the sun broke through the clouds.....ahhahahaha

i turned around and everyone, including pulser, had the biggest grins on their face...wicked...

yeah, pulser killed it.....i still can't believe it..and no cheese...i've heard so many cheesy epic sets, thank god he never played phil collins remixes...hehe..lange set would have been as good if the sound hadn't cut out 3 times..(the 3rd time he accidently turned off the mixer..hehe)

i'm not really a trance addict yet as i really didnt recognise any of pulers tracks...about 1/3 of em i have likely "heard" before, but thats it

yeah, we need an trance/epic monthly in this city : )

Arrived at WEMF around noon on friday, and encountered a little bit of a line-up, but nothing that we couldn't handle. We started getting searched and everything was going fine, but then it was my friends turn to get searched and well, being the smart guy he is he doesn't wear a belt and when the security guard goes to pat down his legs his pants drop right to his ankles. Needless to say the line-up errupted in a roar of laughter, and the security guard was quite embarassed and just didn't bother searching anymore of our gear and let us all in.

Friday was a killer hot day, especially when you're just lounging around for 9 hours waiting for the sun to go down. Once it did it was time for my nap .

Woke up and wondered around, went to the main stage to check out what I thought was Scott Stubbs and I was really impressed by his set. Then I hear the MC say "Alright lets give it up for Vinylgroover, Scott Stubbs is on his way, up next we have Christopher Lawrence". That came as a shocker, I thought Vinylgroover spun Uk Hardhouse. Amazing set none the less.

Wondered around a bit more and then headed off to sleep around 5 to get ready for my set. Went on at 12:30 - 2pm on saturday afternoon. I think my set went pretty well, and was pretty happy with the amount of people in there considering the time of day it was. Thanks to all those who came out and supported me during the heat of the day, and I hope those who received my CD enjoy it. My only complaint was the height of the tables, man my back was so sore after my set, and it still is. The tables were below thrusting level, oh well

We then headed off to my friends cottage to drop off my records and take a jump in the river. Ended up going on an hour & a half boat ride with my friends dad and a couple of my friends to Cameron Lake.

Got back to WEMF around 8, and basically chilled until Jon the Dentist came on, checked out his set for maybe 2 minutes and left. Wondered around until Yves Deruyter came on, and man did this guy tear up. It was amazing to hear Twisted and other dutch trance songs on such a large system.

Headed back to my tent to warm up during Graham Gold's set as he played Cafe Del Marco. Wanted to get ready for Lange's set, then Pulser, then I planned on checking out Subsonic Chronics morning trance set. Stupid me decides to rest his eyes for a second and ended up sleeping until 9am.

Hopefully Lange & Pulser's sets were recorded, as they were the only 2 DJ's I was really looking forward to, aside from Yves Deruyter & my own set.

Overall I thought this WEMF was organized extremely well and hope that the tradition continues next year.

Once again I would just like to thank TRIBE for having me play at WEMF, I had a blast.

ps - im currently working on a tracklisting of my set for anyone interested

What a WEMF!!!!

I don't really know where to begin. All I know is that Saturday night went by soooo quickly while Friday night seemed like a ing journey!!!

First off, no one has mentioned the lighting this year. Friday night, I was thinking I like the lighting better at last year's WEMF, then I don't know what the hell happened, but Saturday night... those light were in full effect and thought they were just amazing. Would've been nice to have those 2 huge light grids like last year too though. Stage had a really professional look to it, good job Destiny!

Christopher Lawrence by far had the best set on Friday, I was thinking at that time that it was going totbe the best set of the weekend.

Went to do some drinking at the car and by the time we got back, Jon the Dentist was on and I was so pissed off for only catching the tail end of his set... but you know what... if the tail end of his set was anything like the first part... I don't think I missed much. No one was dancing, music sounded... alright. Guessing it was no where near what it was like last year.

Yves DeRuyter... AWESOME!!! Once I heard Twisted, that made the set for me, and that was early in the set.

Graham Gold... Where the did this guy come from? Didn't know what the expect, so I took a break, and when I came back to hear his last 4 tracks... well, I think TRANCE BOY put it best... I was on the verge of breaking down... I know exactly what track you're talking about!!! it was his 4 last one right??? I never heard such beautiful music. I thought that was the greatest song ever to end a set with, and then he goes on to play 3 more just like it... believe it or not.. Hearing Graham Gold spin for just 20 minutes totally made my weekend... can't wait for a tracklist.

Lange... unfortunately he had to come on after that amazing sound of Graham Gold! Still rocked the place though, great Trance set from a great Trance personality. I was just about to check other tents when I head Deep Sea coming on, so I turned around back towards my friends, then the music cuts out, terrible track to up right in the middle on!

Pulser... He's the man I came to see... and he did not disappoint! I agree, I was waiting for him to drop Cloudwalking too, and I thought he was going to throw it down last too, but that's a prime time, 3am track, wasn't quite suited for that time of the morning. Cloudwalking is my all time favorite Trance song, wouldn't have been great to throw down second or third. I was really happy to hear NuNRG Dreamland! Too bad there wasn't many people there when he was on, everyone seemed like they pussied out because it was cold, oh well, all the more personal his set sounded! I was the guy dancing by himself in the center/back with a black hoody and white ball cap... I too wanted to ask people if they were Tranceaddics, but I really don't feel like meeting new people while everyone is a ll sketched out in that time of the morning...

2 questions though... where the hell were all the hot girls???... and... when the hell are they going to put a minor age on events like this... honestly, I swear I saw 12-13 year olds there! I almost felt like stopping them in there tracks and asking them how old they were!

Everyone I met this year was very cool... except for those cokeheads that always seemed to find there way to our campsite to talk about mindless that I couldn't give 2 craps about! Please people... try and retain a little self-dignity when you're going to get that messed up! Not everyone wants to hear every single personal problem you've got!

Overall, 10 times better than WEMF 2000, well organized, not too busy, alcohol, no real s, great vibe, can't wait for nest year's... if you think there's going to be one????? :nervous:

I'd have to agree with COLD ONE.

Josh "The Funky 1" absolutely blew me away. I love trance, but everyone has to see Josh spin. He plays vinyl as effortlessly as talking. I won't miss him again.

Pulser was also good, but it was too darn cold for me to stand outside and listen to his entire set.

All in all a pretty good WEMF.. but did I ever feel old! ;)

Bill.
