Cubase, production, pathetic tunes.

Ok, im just making an outcry here. Im trying to use cubase 5 to create some house, dance and trance tunes. Ive watched a 37 chapter tutorial. I know how to use the program. I can create beat loops, and more loops, and a nice swooshing intro. then it just sounds like junk.

My question is purely, how can i create something that has the same value of the big name dj's/ prducers - Avicii, gareth emery, SHM ?? and not just a beat loop that sounds like something from DANCE EJ

I feel like i need to do a course in music production so i can get some inspiration, although i know how i want things to sound in my head. i just have no framework to start with.

I have a great little keyboard i could hook up via MIDI but ill need to invest in an interface.

along with my first question i have a few more:

1. how do you guys get inspiration for a new tune?
2. should i start from scratch or remix a song first?
3. is there any templates availiable for cubase 5 that i can edit to get me started?
4. whats Axwells email address so i can send him my smash hit house tune when its complete.

Any help is much appreciated. XPOSURE

It takes a year or two to learn the basics.

There's no real shortcut.

Welcome to hell.

And when you think you're good enough, you'll find out just how much further you have to go.

If you read 37 chapters on the program but can't make anything close to resembling a complete track, and that is already discouraging to you, then maybe music production isn't a hobby you should be pursuing. Seriously, it's a constant uphill struggle and if you're going to be discouraged if you're a good producer in 2 years at the very least, you've already wasted whatever time you've spent on it.

There aren't any tricks or starting grounds, just figure out how to use the program technically and then experiment with what you can do with it musically. We can't teach you what to do because we all have our own ways of approaching production, beyond the absolute basics which are readily available as video tutorials on Youtube or something.

so there are no beginners templates i can use? thats what im looking for

A basic tune to start off with that i can cut, re-arrange, add my own touch to. something thats not too complex but sounds catchy. thats what i want

Edit* ive just looked through my tutorial dvds, and spotted some templates to use. I shall have a look at these templates and report back to you what a template consists of. regards.
